AEM is a dry flow filter. Not only for cold intakes but also for replacement air filters. As far as K&N after spraying the oil I still let it dry for like 20 minutes but usually I let it dry for a few hours. That’s just my experience and I haven’t had issues. But hey to each their own.

i’m sorry for my previous reply..i do apologize..but with the K&N filter, it’s not for the “slacker/i don’t care about anything driver”..you have to do the maintenance..

Did this dude just throw away a good K&N air filter for a paper filter because he found dust particles inside the airbox? Does he not realize that small partials pass through the air filter but are burnt in a combustion and get filtered through the oil via oil filter??? It's not a N95 mask bro it's a car air filter...

I'm sure these filters have been tested by their Engineers/Designers and would not want people opening any type of law suite against them. I've used them for years on all my vehicles and I've never had an issue with them. I own a 2019 Audi Q5, witch unfortunately no filter is made for this vehicle yet.a but I do own a BMW, and two Mercedes with over 200, 000 miles on them and the air filters were installed when vehicles were first purchased new in 2005, and yes they are still running strong.I 'm an ASE and Bosch Certified Automotive Technician with over 30 years of experience. My specialty is Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, and any type of exotic vehicles. I also build American muscle cars. Ford, Mopar, and Chevy are now using from the factory these types of after market filters. Like I said we are all entitled to our opinion but I never have had an issue with K&N.

The amount of particles shown in the air box is not adequate enough to damage your engine, even with a standard filter you will find some amount of dust inside your air box. Oiling your K&N during service intervals will help dust prevention, Just don't over oil the filter as that can clog up your sensors.

Unless you can guarantee the air box was as clean as new before the K&N was installed you can NOT put the blame on the K&N for any dirt on the upper lid .

I used a k&n filter in my 03 Chevy suburban for 51.000 miles before I took it out and it did a great job on catching dirt and other things.

I do buy the k&n theory I just removed my filter, was super dirty one of the most dirty I have ever seen.
But inside the intake was clean clean

As long as they’re properly cleaned and lubed than they’re fine. The oil traps the dust and fine particles for added protection. They offer much more power, much needed even for daily driving.

Yesterday I pulled out the KN filter from my Toyota 86 after 60, 000km, first time I've checked the filter. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the clean side of air box, it was spotless (no dust or oil residue at all). The filter on dirty side was dirty as it should be, showing it does the job it's supposed to do. I've cleaned the filter and waiting for it to dry which is the main PITA of this process. I think the KN filter kept the air box cleaner than the OE Denso filter, and the car feels slightly more peppy when driving it due to the roughly 5hp more I get. I'm satisfied with the KN filter and will continue to use it.

I don't know, I use K&N on my car and didn't notice some oil leak. MAF is clean as always

I have been using K&N air filters for years and I haven't had one engine problem or sensor failure. And I have seen way dirtier air boxes, that is not a dirty air box.

I have used and currently use k&n with no problems. No matter what filter you use, there will be particles that get by

17 years with same filter on 2001 Audi TT Roadster w/o issues, difficulties. Saves throwing a filter on landfills each year. Thanks

It’s not possible that your intake would be caked in oil from an oiled filter, that’s most likely going to be oil from blow by and not having an oil catch can.

Matt...try the dry-flow K&N drop in filter. Its a night and day difference in terms of filtering efficiency. I'll never use an oiled filter.

Interesting. I've been running one of these in my truck for over a year now in all types of driving conditions, and the intake, MAF sensor, and throttle body all look great. There's no build-up of dust/contaminates or any signs of oil getting in the system. The filter sure seems to be working for me lol.

I like my KN filter, but I wouldn't run it on a daily if I drove through dusty areas or on an off roader for the same reason. Its really all about application.
