I never EVER understand the ripped jeans thing. If I am buying a pair of jeans I don't want to be cheated out of the whole garment!!! I am so glad you gave us your feedback on this topic. Very inspiring and spot on.🌻

At 61, I adhere to 9 out of the 10 you listed! The one "rule" I break is wearing the occasional hoodie (sans logo). I have 2 hoodies that are truly staples in my casual wear wardrobe: one in a beautiful pumpkin color and one in navy. They are layering alternatives to a cardigan or pullover sweater. I would not wear them to the office, but on a day off, absolutely!

Thank you for this video- acknowledging our age and remaining stylish is a positive perspective. I have often resented anything that tries to insist that I must look younger than my actual age. This video was a terrific reminder to remain true to myself- at my current age of 73- thank you, again, Marie-Anne

You are 100% on point with the "wrinkled knees" 🤣 One thing to be added: exaggerated makeup and hairstyling...too much makeup, too bright colors, cakey skin appearance...also unnaturally looking hairstyles, brightly colored and/or excessively styled... everything has to be softer, more naturally looking at any age and especially on us mature ladies.

I agree with the majority of things you said but I also believe that our personality plays a part in how we dress at any age as well. I can’t necessarily wear some things my best friend wears. It looks good on her but I can’t or don’t wear it because it’s just not me. I follow several fashion influencers and you all are very good in your style choices but yet you’re also all different. So at the end of the day I dress in what makes me feel good and confident! Thanks for the tips! 🤗

🥰 I have been wearing more navy because of your suggestions Marie-Anne. For years I wore black pants and I have noticed that so many younger women wear black pants all the time which really looks so dowdy. Some fashionistas just don't get that black is not really that smart any more. With your guidance I have been able to explain to younger women that black isn't always smart and flattering. I think that enhancing all of our body is important not just one half of it! I love the idea of putting colour near the face, for all ages, and even on the bottom. A jacket is everything I feel and it's what brings things together. All of these things I have learned from you. Thank you 😊

I've never intentionally tried to dress younger than I am. I'm probably guilty of going the other direction and looking frumpy. But no more frump for me! My partner is taking me to a resort for the holiday weekend and I've put together a few things for the trip. I'm so happy I found you, Marie-Anne, as you've helped me upgrade my wardrobe and my partner is very impressed with both it and how much weight I've lost! So wonderful!

Oh ouch! A few of these caused me pain, but I have to admit you are right. I have found myself lately not wearing some of your examples because of uncertainty that they still suit me at my age. Thanks for clarifying and confirming what I already, in the back of my mind, suspected. Another closet cleanout happening soon...

The funny thing is, I'm 44 and I almost never wore these things even when I was young. I've always preferred a more classical style. Sometimes though I might go a bit crazy with my clothing, but then it's more something bohemian like a funny vintage sweater or a tull skirt, hippie dress etc., but none of the things you mentioned. I never really dressed in "teenage style".

Hair colour. I am 74 & went au naturale a few years ago after no longer finding dyes that worked well.
Now am silver on top with the slowly greying ring on the lower half. Have every blue & purple shampoo, conditioner, mask & rinse know to mankind. Get a lot of compliments, a lot of help in the parking lots & always a seat on the bus. Life is good.

I agree with your advice. I never thought consciously about it, but I somehow knew to steer clear of those mistakes! I did wear shorts much of the summer around the beach town I live in, but even though I'm well over 50, my knees are smooth, and the summer beach vibe is casual, so I give myself a pass on this one.

Great video I agree with you in all you said especially the ripped jeans. Love your ideas and tips. Thanks for sharing

Good tips!!! I'm usually gardening, cooking, canning, tending the animals, etc, so I usually wear old clothes most of the time. But I have learned not to just run out to the store(or anywhere)without changing my clothes thanks to your videos!! 🌹

I'm so glad I found you!
Love the videos, I intend to watch all of them.
I can't believe how sloppy people have become in the USA.
Some look like they have rolled out of bed. I have seen people in stores with pajamas and bedroom slippers.
Casual has gone too far. It is very rare that I see a man in a suit.
My Mother was a very good dresser. She was from another era. Lived to be 100 and would not go out without her high heels until she was 90.
I love your style, love learning about French fashion.
Merci Beaucoup!

Bonsoir Marie-Anne! As a French counterpart I could not agree more. Leaving in London, I tend to shop at Marks & Spencer. Blazers and shirts + V-neck jumpers are part of my wardrobe. Loafers & ankle boots too.
I have not seen any mature ladies wearing ripped jeans, any frumpy clothing even or short skirts.
They tend to keep quite low & classic.

Marie-Anne, I love your advice. It is comforting to hear your advice after watching countless fashion-over-50 videos that show outfits I cannot see myself wearing. I am happy to continue to build my wardrobe and stick with the basics and classics.

I agree with these. They were great. I think dark, flat hair color can end up aging a person, as can too much make-up, especially if it settles into lines. Too much filler is another sign that someone is trying too hard (and often failing).

Okay after watching this I ran to "shop my closet" and took off a concert t-shirt(sorry!)and put on a pretty white eyelet top that I French tucked into my dark wash jeans. The greatest thing is not only do I look much nicer, I'm still very comfortable too! Thanks Marie-Anne.

Another awesome video Marie Anne. I agree with most, specially the ripped jeans. I own a few hoodies and wear them as needed. Mostly for camping, being out on the boat, walking the dogs in the rural areas, under my windbreaker when riding my bike on colder days, gardening or sitting in an open field, watching my grandson play football. It's often cold and windy here in North West Canada. You need hoodies. They are not a fashion statement, or for looking younger.
