Lidl’s Mini Oven Put to the Test

Picked up this £35 mini oven from Lidl after a Discord suggestion—had to see if it’s actually any good. I put it through baking, grilling, reheating, and even tried roasting a whole chicken as the final boss. Let’s find out if this budget oven is a hidden gem or just a kitchen gimmick.

About the little (lidl) oven:
Barry commenting on the uneven cooking of cheese on toast:
"of course we could just spin it around."
Or you could just close the oven door.
Of course anything toward the front, even if directly under the heating element, won't cook as quickly when the door is OPEN.
(But I bet you know this, you just like to get us laughing).

I looked at these, as being on the counter top, would make it easier for me to lift things in/out of the oven as I’m a wheelchair user. However I so rarely use my oven because I used my air fryer, I doubt I’d use it. But definitely super helpful for those who are disabled.

I have one in my caravan where low weight is extremely important. It takes longer to cook things but the end result is fine. Wouldn’t be without it.

For the liter capacity, the metric system was literally designed around water. So all you need is the inner measurements, and you get the volume.

When it came to the toast, of course the bottom isn’t going to be cooked evenly, you’ve got the door fully open, there’s going to be less heat compared to the back of it.

I bought one last year and use it for all my baking needs, it’s called a toaster oven here in Costa Rica. The other day my daughter used it to make 3 mini pizzas for her family because her big gas oven wasn’t working!
I spent more then you did but only because I wanted one with a rotisserie setting. I ❤ rotisserie chicken! Mine has a light that comes on when I turn on the power, which is nice, but it has the 60 minute spin timer like yours!
It runs a little cooler than the temperature settings but I just adjust it a bit!

It being non digital is a big bonus with sketchy power supplies as a brief powercut doesnt mean it just turns off and forgets where it was it just continues for the remainder of the time because of the mechanical timer mechanism perfect for boating/camper setups running solar/inverter etc

I bought one of these about 5 years ago. I use it a lot as I have a bad back and can't bend to reach the cooker's oven. I use it often and even after 5 years it still works great.

I've a similar one bought a few years ago, if you live alone these are pretty handy, I've cooked all sorts in it, just don't do anything large, handful of chips, chicken burger, sausage roll, all cool fine from frozen.

I have one of those, and while it has some issues, all in all it does everything it should. I'm single and this small oven saves a lot of energy compared to the regular one when I'm cooking a single meal. I use it for baking as well. Imho this oven is well worth the little money I paid for it
