Magnum Mayhem! Barrett MRAD vs Ruger Precision Rifle at 1 mile!

Curious how a budget friendly rifle like the ruger precision rifle stacks up against a more expensive option like the barrett mrad? In this video we'll perform a side by side comparison of the Barrett MRAD and Ruger precision rifle in 300PRC. The video shows performance at 100 yards, 1465 yards and 1820 yards. Both rifles are equipped with nightforce atacr F1 scopes, the MRAD is running a 7-35 with tremor 3 reticle while the ruger precision is running a 5-25 with MIL-R reticle. To keep things fair, both rifles are shooting the 230gr hornady atip bullet which I have found to be extremely effective in ELR applications. As you can see in the video both rifles are more than capable of effectively engaging targets out to a mile!

I have a first generation RPR in 6.5creedmoor. It got run over by a vehicle and stuff got bent. I was honest and sent it in for inspection and repairs. They replaced multiple parts and not a single dime was spent out of my own pocket, including shipping. It was my only experience in working with Ruger, but they went well above and beyond what was necessary.

I think the most impressive thing is your ability to talk to the camera and explain the action clearly with a consistent cadence. It’s very reminiscent of classic 50’s and 60’s instructional. Very relaxing.

The scenery is beautiful! So refreshing to see someone shoot ELR at such a stunning landscape...

It’s great seeing the budget entry gun performing neck and neck with the top of the line gun. I was an MRAD just for the barrel conversions, but it’s cool that the RPR easily pulls its own weight.

I appreciate the honesty of this video. Not all hits, owning mistakes, explaining adjustments… the whole nine. Thank you sir.

This guy has it together for presentation...info and ease of delivery and explanation. This channel is going to go somewhere...good. Thank you for your time doing these. I have that Ruger in 300 prc and have stretched it out, but this guy puts it out for all to see. Very enjoyable.

It is absolutely amazing what people are doing with off the shelf rifles these days.

I have absolutely no experience in long range shooting but I am very interested in doing some. Your presentation is outstanding and informative without being overwhelming. Thank you for putting this content out there.

Thank you for your great commentary..straight to the subject matter. I learned how important reading the wind is, and adjusting it in such small increments.

These videos are very well edited. Really appreciate the multiple camera angles, makes it fun to watch you nail these targets so far out. Keep up the great work!

No justifying that price, a 4k difference buys many things, especially with the world we live in. RPR is awesome, I love it.

It would seem that the Ruger returned tremendous value on investment for the difference between its cost and the MRAD. Dip Schmidt’s comment also demonstrates Ruger’s commitment to customer support even when the damage was not Ruger’s fault. 👍

That has to be one of the nicest places I've ever seen to go shooting.
BTW..I just went out to the desert in So. Cal. and made my first hits on a milk jug at 1000 yards using my RPR chambered in 6.5 creed. I was so happy. Next stop 1 mile.

Just got the rpr in 300prc. My first long range rifle. At the price I was willing to try this long range stuff out. I dont know if I ever would have spent the money for something like the mrad. Maybe if I feel like Im doing good ill up the game a little but for my first one Im happy to have this. Looks like most people happy with theirs. I don't think I'll even be able to get out past 300yrds until spring lol. Just not much room to stretch out around here and too little free time to go very far. Cant wait.
