308 Win will knock down anything in North or South America. I have used it for 40+ years and will continue to do so. Good video.

FINALLY!!! Someone talking actual F’n sense on this topic!

I went .308 because of ammo options and availability in my area. You can always find some kind of .308 cartridge in any store.

I really like the end of the video “if you’re having to ask which you you should get then you need more time shooting” I felt that was directly for me and that comment alone sir has earned you a subscriber. I’m getting diving head first into the hunting world with hopes of filling all these glorious tags and the past few days I’m stuck in a YouTube rabbit hole of “best calibers” etc . Anyways thanks.

Excellent review. Very practical approach. Particularly in today’s world with ammo availability/cost issues.
I have several .308’s, one .260 and one 6.5. Lean toward the latter two because they cut through the wind more effectively making up for my wind calling ability.

I was one of those guys. You are correct in all your comments. I love 308 & 6.5, great video

Excellent video. I picked up a "budget" bolt gun recently just to "get in the game" and went with a Ruger American in .308. I saw someone else mention the barrell life difference, and that, plus the fact that I've shot a bit of .308 in the past so knew what I was getting into there, really leaned me to the .308 side of the .308 / 6.5 Creedmoor equation. Thanks for making me feel better about that decision.

Great video. A lot of common sense/cut-to-the-chase info! I personally don't often shoot beyond 500 anyways, but I'm big time into external/terminal ballistics, so I shoot a lot of lighter than average rounds. The 308 can shoot the same load, faster and with more muzzle energy, so my vote goes to 308.

Your explanation for cartridge development is spot on! The .308 has been dumpling big critters (and small) with single shot kills since 1952 and it's done this largely with conventional cup & core ammo. It has stacked up more meat than the 6.5 CM ever will with firearms that are not as "advanced" as those produced today (sarcastically). The 6.5CM is one of many attempts at "reinventing the wheel" so that the firearm/ammo manufacturers can make more $! There were already a bunch of cartriges available before the CM that equal or exceed it's performance so it's not like there was some magical niche that the 6.5 tapped into. If I want an upgrade from my .308, I'll buy a 30'06 or 7mm Rem Mag. The ammo might still be less expensive. Nice video!

Excellent overview between the two calibers and I am now a subscriber. I went with .308 principally due to the barrel life issue, and the fact you can get a .308 in a box-fed semi-automatic platform (which I prefer over a bolt gun).

I completely agree. Thanks for hanging it out there!!!! 👍

The .308 is a great all around cartridge. Plus the cost and availability is better.

Outstanding Truth. I Used .300 Modified Win Mag. .338 Lapua Mag. & Modified .50 Cal For My 26 Years Sniping Years. Retiring After 32 + Years. .308 Is A Do It All Rifle. My Go To Extreme Real Estate These Days Is The .300 Norma & The 6mm Creed. Keep It Coming.👍

Thank you Trey! Loved watching the livestream and this video. I think James hit the nail on the head with the "Cheapest Rifle Build" I think a base line rifle for a class with you would help people, me included. Also your favorite ammo is that of which you load could be a fun series, could tie into the "Match for hunting" question as well.

Finally! While I am a big 6.5 Creedmoor fan, 308 is still going strong and continues to do so. Another reason I made the switch to 6.5 is less recoil, I'm getting older and a 308 kicks more, like my 30-06. Thanks to setting the record straight.

I hunted with the 260 since 2001 . A buddy of mine had it since around 1998. I bought it from him. I put a new scope on it and shot it dead ass on ever since. I’m 2018 I bought a .308 model seven, same as the .260 . They look exactly the same, both are Rem model sevens. The .308 shoots the same. What lm saying is this, all things being equal, they are awesome weapons.

Love this video!! I hate when I hear people (around where I live u never shoot past 100 yards) talking about 6.5 and long range rifles... I always say "u still need to know how to do it.. that it isn't a magic gun

Been running 6.5CM through a DD Delta 5 Pro for over a year now. Absolutely outperforms all of my previous .308 custom builds all day long in terms of MOA and Wind. Before 6.5CM came along, I had already replaced my .308's with guns in 6.5-284 which showed me the writing on the wall between the performance.

Bro this is exactly what I needed to hear! I’m new to longer range shooting and I’ve been watching video after video on 6.5 vs 308 and nobody has been as real about the difference than this dude. He earned this subscription
