I drove by my local Toyota dealership down the road from me this morning(9/15). The new car lot is empty. On their website, 5 of 6 Camrys are 'in-transit'. Toyota is creating demand for vehicles that are not being produced in enough volume to prevent greedy dealers marking up over MSRP.

My beast is a SR5 4WD 1999 Toyota 4Runner, we have been together for almost 13-14 years (my one and only car) and currently has 267, 000+ miles. She has been real good to me and is still holding strong (still have the original car carpet mats too and minimal rust). I'm not sure if I'm ready to retire her just yet, but I will say the 2023 is a tempting upgrade, definitely trying to stick with a 4Runner if/when that happens.

14 years on the 5th gen and they're going strong, this is no doubt a great vehicle. I've had mine for 5 years and still love it. I don't even want the 'upgrades' provided in the 18-23 model years. I just hope that with the loss of the Landcruiser models in the US, the 4runner can bridge the gap and maintain the off road legacy that made it what it is.

I'm a Toyota driver but man do they get away with ridiculous charges for badging and plastic swaps. The Trail and Special Editions are always a complete rip off, lmao.

Love it!!! Had 1990 2nd gen - 200+ miles, still have 2002 270k miles, 2014 100k miles. No problems scheduled maint and oil and drive. Good luck finding any of the higher trim levels in 2022 however.

I have an early 5th gen with just over 100k miles. It’s a solid and perfect vehicle for my needs of overnight camping to photograph nature and wildlife in remote areas. All I have done were oil changes, filters, 1 set of tires at 95k miles, and gas.

After watching the release of the compressed tiny Land Cruiser, I am glad to grab the 2023 4Runner!

I own a 2023 SR5 4runner and it’s the best purchase I have made in my life!

I would like a v8 4Runner, I miss my 4.7 4Runner, it was perfect in every way .
That’s what it really needs instead of them useless accessories, stickers, etc .
It needs a v8 for last model, 4.6 v8 4x4 6 or 8spd SR5 4x4 without all that garbage of accessories and sensors for dummies

Now if only I could find one at MSRP in a reasonable amount of time without getting scalped by a dealer.

I am currently driving a 2021 TRD Pro in Lunar Rock, bought it “Certified” New with 4k on the clock. I absolutely love the ever-loving crap out of this truck. So much so that I put my name on the waiting list for the 2023 Solar Octane color. Dealership called me yesterday, it’s on the boat heading for port. So about 8 weeks from now I’ll be “upgrading” so o can break the vehicle in properly and truly enjoy a worry free ownership. Thank you Japan for having such pride in your work and for keeping the legacy alive.

Thank you so much for not changing the engine and keeping it the way it is ❤️

Did you upgrade the transmission from the 5spd?

Thank you for sparing the 4runner of the big ugly grill trend. This vehicle is one of the few old school vehicles left on the market

Good Job Toyota! I love the offroad SUV! Off-Road cars are amazing! Especially Trucks and SUV Off-Roaders.
