Saturns rings are it's most striking feature but it's been a long mystery to how old they have been. Scientists may have discovered how long they've been around and how long they have left.

if they are only 100m years old our lives have been given a very rare glimpse at something few living things may have ever been able to see

I saw the rings of Saturn once through a fairly low grade home telescope when I was a kid, I'm still thrilled about it 50 years later.

The solar system loved Saturn so much it put a ring on it. 💍

Sharks are 4 times older than Saturns rings, it’s been known for quite a while now

Very well articulated, especially the time comparison at the end. Really brought it into perspective. Superb work as usual man 👏🏻👏🏻

Thank god Saturn has it’s rings! I can’t even imagine how different my life would be if it didn’t.

This is a consolation. Earth will continue to live like that of Saturn. Thank you for this vlog.

this isn't really news. the ring are in fact younger than the species we know as sharks. yes sharks are older than the rings of saturn by approx. 50 million years.

Earth will soon resemble Saturn
The only difference will be is that Earth's rings will be made entirely from space junk.

Which is absolutely interesting these days because we already know about everything else that matters in the universe, so the age of saturn rings is what is left for us to reach maximum knowledge.

What if the rings are a record that an alien civilization on a massive scale has sent us after detecting us in a microcosm?

This reminds me of a tiny planet with huge² rings called J1407B. It's a beautiful sight but deadly as hell.

What are the oldest planets out there going out from the sun to Neptune or going from neptune into the sun or does it work that way

Do most rings on planets form this way?

I can believe it. That magnetic field is a very powerful one.

Interesting that Saturns rings are pretty young in comparison to the planet itself and the solar system. Though in most cases 100 million year wouldn’t be considered relatively recent lol

Thats strange... I was just thinking about this very thing. I had just seen a short about the Mars moon eventually doomed to the same fate.
