Funny enough if you look up some pre colonial African communities they practiced a system of government close to communism, look up precolonial igbo system of government, some in the villages still practice this till date, just yesterday a friend was telling me how in his village they had a palm tree plantation and all the people in the community were allowed to go into the farm and collect palm products to make palm oil over a period of time them the farm would be closed for another period of time so the palm trees can bring forth more fruit. The farm is owned by the community and regulated by the community elders

Mises already showed, in 1921, that when you centralize the economy, you make economic calculation less effective. When economics is 100% centralized, economic calculation is impossible - thus the usage of (scarce) resources is not aimed to fullfil people needs. In plain English, people get poorer and starve.

Collectivism is like whiskey. If Usain Bolt drinks one litter of whiskey every day, he will be faster than me and you, but he will never beat a World Record. If he drinks 5 liters, he dies. If I drink 2 liters, I die.

The one liter Usain Bolt is California and Finland/Sweden.
The 5 liter Usain Bolt is Argentina and Venezuela.
The 2 liters me is Portugal, Greece, ....

And about people liking to live on California and New York... Check the population growth in these states compared to Texas and Florida in the last couple of years... About these states not being dictatorships, try to remember something called COVID...

I support a Resource Based Economy. In an RBE, the resources are not owned, not even by the government. So there's no need for money. Everything is freely available for the taking, and people are free to contribute their time and talent to society, for zero pay.

At the same time, nobody is obligated to work. People choose to be productive and freely give of themselves because they're doing something they love and it provides meaning in their lives.

Like Leo says, peoples' consciousness needs to align with that in order for it to work. I believe an RBE will naturally materialize when a critical mass of people see the abundance of the world instead of scarcity.

I have to disagree. Richard Wolfe an economist has it right when he shows the data regarding the Soviet Union and other countries such as Cuba. Cuba is a good example of a country which has a lower infant mortality rate compared to the US. They want to open up to grow their markets starting from a socialist state. Cuba has a longer life span than other poor nations and better than some developed countries such as the USA. All this under sanctions and embargo from the USA. I also believe if I am wrong that the US controlled the financial system despite the Soviet Union suffering destruction from WWII. I think the US is going to stay the course for a while it won't change unless something dramatic takes place.

This video showed me up in full perspective that you have no idea and rational understanding of what communism or socialism is? But this is ok, you've never lived inside one and you shouldn't bother. But don't try to mislead your audience, at least. Do you really wish to know why communism failed? Are you sure? Can you handle it? 😂 Here it is: The difference between Free Market and the 5 year planned based communist economy is that the last one has only one employer in itself, in the face of the state. Everything belongs to the state and the party. In this situation, one very, very important factor had been moved out of the economy - and this is - competition. That's right - competition. Without it, the communist state will keep producing it's products every 5 years as planned. But outdated and with poor quality. Every employee is waiting for it's monthly salary from the state. And you start to realise that even if you work hard or being lazy on duty, the state will keep paying your monthly wage, so... you stop bother...

I watch a lot of your videos Leo and really appreciate you making all of these. But on this topic I have to disagree.
As an example I'm gonna take a stab at your claim about California and NY being one of the wealthiest states/economies. That is the case because the leading sector in both of these states is financial services (take a look at the GDP distribution by sector). It includes Finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing. This sector flourishes especially in capitalism!
