I love how poetic they made things. Viserys had a wife that he loved, truly and openly, but he chose to sacrifice Aemma so that his son could be born. Daemon, on the other hand, was more reserved (at least in the show) in his love for Laena, but he chose not to make the choice that Viserys did.

There’s just something about the juxtaposition of the two brothers: Viserys is portrayed as kind, gentle, loving, and even weak while Daemon is portrayed as being quite the polar opposite, being “The Rogue Prince.” However, we watch as Viserys commits one of the most heinous acts we saw in the first season, while his brother takes a more noble approach.

A lot of people say that Daemon didn't love her, but he did. It is, however, very obvious that she loved him more than he loved her. I think Daemon was more reserved in his love than she was.

I don't cry from many things, but the way Daemon whispered "my brave girl..." absolutely broke me. It's interesting how he is portrayed as the more ruthless brother, the psychopath, and yet HE was the one who actually took care of his wife, while Viserys murdered his during childbirth. I loved Laena so so much. She was the only one in this show who understood Vhagar, a mixture between fierce and wise but yet so alive.

She deserved so much better and more screen time maybe we could’ve actually had the genuine friendship she had with rhaenyra and the genuine love she had with daemon

This is the most interesting dichotomy between Viserys and Daemon. Viserys chose his legacy, whereas Daemon chose to honor his wife’s wishes, despite not being in love with her (according to the show at least). Whereas Viserys was claimed to have adored and loved his wife Aemma (and perhaps he truly did), but at the end of the day, chose to have her brutally carved into, in the hopes his son would live.
Framed in that light- during the first season, Daemon is honestly the better of the two rulers, when it comes to women’s’ rights and freedoms.
