Lack of clear communication is the poison for this whole family. Daemon could’ve told Viserys the exact context of his heir for a day comment, it might’ve lessened the heat of Viserys’ ire.

Viserys could’ve told his daughter clearly that he’s serious about keeping her as his heir, Daemon could’ve come clean that he didn’t screw Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra could’ve explained to Alicent that Daemon only kissed her.

And Rhaenyra definitely should’ve told Rhaenys that her son was alive. She damn near risked her alliance by letting Rhaenys think she killed her son.

I wish they would tell her he was alive. I believe Rhanerya when she said she loved Laenor. He was her closest friend and confidant for years. They stood by each other against the tidal wave that was the Hightowers. From the very beginning she never judged him for being gay either. She knew it before they were betrothed. And by doing what she did, she gave him the freedom to truly be happy.

Rhaenys Targaryen has to be one of the saddest stories in pre-Aerys GoT history. She lost the throne despite being Jaehaerys' eldest, was led to believe both of her children preceded her in death, allied with the woman she thought was her son's murderer, and was burned to death without ever seeing the fruit of her labor.
But then again, almost everyone who participated in the Dance met a sad end. Rhaenyra was incinerated having seemingly lost everyone she loved except her fourth son. Alicent watched her family die one by one and then lived years with that over her head. Corlys Velaryon watched his family die and was very nearly executed as a traitor, but survived. And so many other sad stories.

I watched HoTD again and I realised it was Laenor who proposed the whole plan of faking his death, fleeing away and getting Rhae a husband who shows up. That time when he is talking about a husband Rhae deserves he isn't talking about himself.
