I am 77 and my advice is if you want to live long : dont give it a second thought its the concern that will kill you . If I die tomorrow, so what . I excercise 3 hrs a day because I enjoy it not because I want to live long

My mother is 98. She had eighteen children. They are all healthy. She has two secrets:
1. incredible optimism. Can you imagine having 18 kids and never worrying? Thats my mom.
2. eating healthy. At age six she read a book on vegetables and made a commitment to healthy living. She never had a cigarrette, a cup of coffee, or alcohol. She still remembers the name and author of every book she read. For a while she read three books a day. Still sharp as a tack, has perfect eyesight.

Getting old is still rough. I have a grandfather who’s 92 and he’s not in a good spot. It’s also quality of life, not just quantity

It's more productive and enjoyable to focus on the life you live than the death you'll never experience.

Life expectancy was heavily influenced by all the children dying before they became 5. But still appreciating your positive message. Greetings form Germany !

“So live your life so the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their views, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a stranger if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself. Touch not the poisonous firewater that makes wise ones turn to fools and robs them of their visions. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.”

I developed fear of death post pandemic. I still get panic attacks with minutest of the things bothering me. Getting inside lift alone. Climbing to the top. Traveling alone in a metro. Toughest of all is sleeping. I feel I would not survive for the next day, but everyday I get up with a new hope of beating my anxiety. I needed this video.

I am just a tourist. When I die, I am going home.

Man I’ve been feeling really old at 37 for 7 years. This puts things into perspective.

I'm 27 and I'm having a quarter life crisis.

I'd rather live a good couple of decades healthy and alert rather than drag along into old age just to break a record. Living longer doesn't necessarily translate into success and happiness. In the Grand scheme of things, mankind's whole existence resembles a flash of light compared with how long we don't exist.

Honestly, my age is one factor, but I really fear my parents dying sometimes.

The last time I looked, nobody gets out of here alive! I'm 77 and have a lot of living to do! Life is banquet of things to learn things to do and places to go. I'm not at the end of the road but I can almost see it from here. So what, Live it! don't wait for the calendar to run out.

After both parents are gone and you're not close to any other family and have no friends that fear really kicks in then. Single all my life facing it all alone. Mother passed 2 years ago. I just turned 62 in April.

Thanks Pat. At 55, you just made me 30. Huge mental difference as I think about what I want to accomplish.

This maths is flawed,
The average age in the past was drastically brought down by babies dying and infants before the age of 3 or 4 dying,
If you made it past your 20s you were pretty much on the way to living older,
People 400 years ago lived till 100 years old no problem,
The only difference today is that less people are dying young which pushes up the average age,
If you have 10 people,
1 person lives to 100 and 9 of them die at the age or 2 the average age is 11.8 years old,
If you take 10 people and 9 of them live to 50 and 1 of them lives to 100 the average age is 55
It's not the people are living older, were just not dying at birth any more,
A lot of the oldest living regions in the worlds are regions without access to modern medicine and the age expectancy in America is actually dropping for the first time in 100 years or so
Advancement in medicine does not equal old age, sometimes the opposite with all the pharmaceutical drugs

Hey pat. I used to work for funeral homes. I've been to children's hospitals and family residences to pick up those who left early. Tragedy strikes no matter what. I took care of a wealthy trader once. Had all the concierge medicine you could buy, but lyme disease that eventually turned into dementia made him forget his life and even his kids. Money won't keep you from the reeper. The sand of time is running out on us all. God bless

I do not fear death, I fear the idea of not spending more time with my loved ones and being confronted with my bad deeds / actions and not living up to my potential
