I wish there was a forum where every math enthusiasts join together to do math, teach each other, correct each other and learn together, somebody please make such website ♡

This is a wonderful book but i think it will be better as a second book in this subject to bridge your knowledge. On my mind introduction to mathematical statistics by larsen and marx is the best first book in this subject. It will enrichment your library professor.

Sorcerer, more videos demonstrating solving probability and statistics would be appreciated by me. As that's the area that my future interests lie, specifically operations research. However, you mentioned that there is a lot of bad statistics out there. If you could also make some videos explaining probability and statistics concepts, that would be beneficial to many more people.
Thanks for your hard work and dedication to teaching mathematics.

Good video, I never had much to do with statistics before getting into college but I like it quite a lot !! I like how there are a lot of elements from calculus.

The Poisson distribution is named after the French mathematician Simeon Poisson and if I remember correctly one early application was analysis by the Prussian army of soldier deaths caused by accidental horse kicks. Good book btw, I think I used this one in my probability and statistics class during my undergrad. I also took stochastic processes and it was a heavy course although interesting. It was helpful in my research in understanding classical and quantum walks.

Thanks for including statistics content today in your video! I have a background in statistics and I own quite a bit of statistics books too. I don't have this one, but I do own Introduction to Mathematical Statistics by Hogg. Thanks for the recommendation:)

Thanks for the review. Excellent text, multiple newer editions of this text are available. Most recent edition is 10th. I have an 8th edition text, 2009.

When I was looking to purchase this book back in 2007, I remember seeing a review that the 6th was better than the 7th edition. He said the t-distribution chapter completely changed in a bad way and was better developed in the 6th. Also, there was less wasted margin space. A lot of reviews seemed to hate the book as a main textbook for their class. I just looked on Amazon, but I can't find the review anymore. I bought the 6th edition for about $15 back then. I used it as an extra book when I was studying for an actuarial exam. I wanted to get a Wackerly book, but even the old ones back then were really expensive. I use to like deriving all the moments from the distributions for fun back then.

I can confirm, being French, poisson means fish.
Very interesting book, I was looking for one to use with your udemy course “Statistics with StatCrunch”. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼

I searched a lot of textbooks on probability and statistics, and found the best entry level book is "Introduction to Mathematical Statistics and Its Applications" by Richard Larsen and Morris Marx.

Very cool. This was the textbook I used in my Probability and Statistics class way back in the day. It was fun! Student's t-test, anyone? My copy is still in a plastic bin in the basement, and my intention is to pull it out for review now that I'm no working much anymore and have a little time.

My undergrad probability book. I’ll have to take another look at it I haven’t in years.

I've had the 5th edition of this since 1997-1998. I believe my edition was published in '96. I kept it. I haven't burned it in the fireplace, used it for target practice, or ran it over with my car, so yeah... the Hogg and Tanis book is pretty good.

Yes, "Poisson" does mean fish in French =)

I have a newer edition of this book that I used for undergrad. Very good book.

By the way, I think I spotted in a few of your videos that you own Analysis with an Introduction to Proof by Steven Lay. Are you planning on reviewing that book?

Would love to hear your take on "Statistical Inference" by George Casella and Roger L. Berger. Please make some videos on mathematical economics books.

Hey I love your videos! I was wondering if you had any recommendations for statistics and probability books for econometrics. I know that may not be your specialty but I would really appreciate your advice because I haven’t found much else online
