I've been using Apple's iPad mini 6 for the past week, trying to figure out WHO this iPad is meant for.. and I think I've brought it down to 4 categories of people! Let me explain..

Best iPads & Accessories on Amazon ⬇️

In this review, I go over all of the new features and changes to the iPad mini 6 and discuss which of them actually matter in terms of improving your everyday life.

I then go into the differences between this iPad and the rest of iPad lineup, like the iPad Air 4 and the M1 iPad Pro.

I also compare the 60hz display to both the iPad Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max to show you how they differ in terms of refresh rate and smoothness.. as well as the iPad mini 6 jelly scrolling issue.

I dive deep into the A15 Bionic chip and how it's an absolute POWERHOUSE in terms of graphics performance, especially for gaming!

And finally.. I discuss the four categories of people who should be buying the iPad mini 6!

There really are people out there who don’t care about 60 Hz versus 120 Hz. When I downgraded from my iPad Pro to last year’s iPad Air 4, it was a complete non-issue for me. To me it’s just one of those things that reviewers all grasp onto when they like a device but they have to find something negative to say about it. I just traded that device in for my new iPad mini 6, and jelly scrolling is a non-issue as well. I also think it’s silly to suggest to people who are considering the mini to get a much larger, much heavier iPad so that scrolling looks nicer. It completely misses the point of a mini and why people like me who buy it like it so much. Super smooth scrolling is completely useless when you can’t pick up your tablet for long periods without putting it down or finding awkward ways to hold it because it is so heavy. I browse, read, and watch videos for long periods of time on my iPad, and the mini is the only fatigue free iPad out there.

You missed the most obvious category, people like my wife and mother-in-law who have an older mini. They love the smaller size and didn’t want to upgrade to a bigger iPad. Now it’s time to upgrade.

For someone who’s using an iPad mainly as a daily planner, the compact sized iPad Mini 6 is the perfect choice. So happy with this one.

It's for someone like me. It's about the size. I have my iPad Air 2, and I have not upgraded because I find iPads to be too large. I have a Macbook and don't need a large tablet. I need something more convenient to carry, and I love that I can finally connect devices to it.
I was torn between the 11" iPad Pro M1 and the mini... it all came down to size for me.

Please someone tell apple to add splitview on ipads when they are kept vertical, like one app on top of another. It will be really good to take notes watching lecture on upper half and taking notes on lower half. Currently it only works in which apps are side by side (both vertical even rotated), which is not efficient. GREAT VIDEO BTW...

I ordered the EXPENSIVE 256 GB version. Two things led me to this choice: compactness and the new A15. The USB-C connector also helped. But the price of this version was hard to swallow for me.

Bought my IPad mini 6 the first day that it was available. Love everything about it. New design, smaller bezels, improved sound, the Touch ID button and the USB C port to name just a few. Totally noticing how it’s easier to hold too!

I bought the iPad mini just to try out, fully expecting to return it. But MAN I really love it, using my iPad Pro 11” feels massive now, and the mini is just so much better to use while holding

As a pilot, I’m glad you included us by mentioning your friend who is also a pilot. Currently I use the latest iPad mini with a yoke mount, as it is small enough not to obstruct my view of the instrument panel. There is one group you failed to mention, and that is people like myself who collects every single model of iPad just to complete me collection. But that is another level of pickiness that I imagine few have. Needless to say, your review is very comprehensive and that alone blows my mind! You make these review look easy, but in reality, there’s a lot of work that goes into what you do and it is much appreciated! 👍👍

I gave my fiancé my 11 inch pro and got myself the mini 6, I absolutely love it. It is much more portable in my opinion, I also recently upgraded to iPhone 13 pro and honestly gong between 60hz and 120hz is not really noticeable to me to be any sort of issue

I would like to chip in my possible use: As a graphic design student, I would only use the iPad mini as an extremely portable portfolio showcase device to bring with me in interviews or client meetings. I could provide a quick demonstration of my work with an incredible display without having to bring my laptop. I could show motion design projects or final video projects. I wouldn't need (at least I think I won't) 120hz to show a project that will most likely be exported at 60fps for motion graphics and 24fps for video work. While still being in school, I would bring this with me anywhere to revisit some project briefs, emails, notes and general pdf files. I have never used keynote but I could see a use for it in the future if I would need to present. Great video, this only brings me closer to my decision to actually getting one!

This latest iPad mini is perfect for us drone pilots, and aviation enthusiasts in general. Works with all the DJI stuff perfectly, and is a great second screen for us flying FPV to share our flights with friends and family in real time.

It all depends on what you want it for. I see it mainly as a games console, a Switch+++. It's portable, has huge library of games, plays them at high resolution with no dropped frames, can connect to external monitor (for a docked experience) and supports all major controllers. It also makes a great book reader and for films on the go.

I’d pay for a pro model of the mini with a 120hz OLED panel no problem

I’m a senior had a mini 4 and was waiting for the 6. The new mini has super sound, brighter screen for me.The wifi connection is much quicker.
The camera perfect for taking photos. I like the size because I use it to read books. A bonus is the usb c connection so I can add other devices such as a car reader. I give it 8 out of 10. I do have a problem though one graphics app I use Bazaart I now can’t edit text as the three dots to use to split screen opens when I try to access the line spacing tab.

A fifth category would be students and readers. This is my preferred device for reading and annotating academic journal articles, reading digital magazines with my Apple News+ subscription, and anything that I can use my Apple Pencil for. This is significantly more convenient for those tasks than my iPad Pro 12.9 inch

I got the iPad mini 6 and love how compact it is! Also got an iPhone 12 Mini so the bigger screen is much nicer to watch videos on! While not having a massive phone in my pocket but instead got it in my backpack!

For those hesitating due to the lack of 120Hz, my personal experience as a user of both a new iPad mini 6 and an iPad Pro with the 120Hz display is that it doesn't matter nearly as much as this review would have you believe.

I'm into graphic design and photography and am a real pixel peeper. You will notice the difference if you look for it. If you just settle down and use the iPad, you won't notice - at least, I don't all that much. I even use one alongside the other and the difference is not particularly significant. It depends what you want to do on it, of course, but I truly don't feel it's a dealbreaker. Your mileage may vary.

Similarly, regarding the infamous "jelly scrolling", Max is absoultely right. You don't really notice it at all unless you're looking for it.
