Quick video on some things I like about my G-Shock GX-56BB1 King. While it's not a diver, it is an accurate, cheap beater.

Thinking of picking one up to use as a wall clock. My Mudmaster is just a bit too small for that...

I wore G-Shocks for 32 years; ever since the DW-5000 came out in "83. I wore the GX-56 for the last 3-4 years of that black watch phase. I found the 56 to be everything I could ask from Casio... just bigger. And when I was Scuba diving, I wore the G-shock. It's got 200m WR. Unlike virtually any "real" diver, the Casio is still fully functional under water; the pushers are sealed. And when the alarms go off when you're down there, it sounds like it's inside your head. I bought 2 extra 56's when it went out of production, just so I would always have one. The bad guys started to counterfeit them, so Casio brought them back.

Oh, yeah. I'm a Seiko addict these days. THANKS, McMahon.

Something about this guy that keeps me watching his videos

It actually can be used as a diver watch. It has a gasket in each button so it allows you to operate the buttons underwater. Couple that with the 200m (20Bar) water resistance and you can essentially use the countdown timer or stop Watch in lieu of a timing bezel.

Big size is for uniformed or craft personel. The size is perfect for when ur wearing gloves. It holds its ground amid all the fabric on the hand and arm.

Hard wearing resin. The mineral glass is scratch resistant. It is quite hard wearing. You get an excellent value for your money with a Gshock with a tonn of features. Cant go wrong really! Plus this model is ultra cool!

What puts me off this module, is the time isn't visible in stopwatch and countdown modes. I don't know why Casio has time viewable on their entry level Chinese manufactured square Gshock, but not some of their more expensive models eg. GWM5610

Well, with regards to the visibility issue, you can always turn on the autolight function. I agree with most of your assessment, I have one too. ^_^

Don't say plastic. Say 'resin'.

You can dive with this watch it's water resistant down to 20bar, and in actual real world testing it can go beyond 30 which is way deeper than you can go without special equipment or breathing mixtures.

I'm thinking of getting this watch. It just looks so techy. I'm into techy watches these days and I like the idea of a durable watch (having been using automatics for many years). The online store I usually buy from lists it for $123 so it probably isn't the atomic version but so what. The only thing that's deterring me is the humongous size. I dunno. I'll think about it for a few days.

“It’s not a Diver watch.” Is that why Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, Green Berets and most other Special Forces world wide use them for land and waterborne Ops all over the world? 🤔😂

Hi,

I have all the gx 56 models and I have to tell you that in my opinion it is the best G Shock ever produced.🌍👍🙋🥇

Nearly all G shocks have mineral glass as its much more break resistant than sapphire (less scratch resistant though).

This watch is the coolest G SHOCK ever.🤘

Let’s do a test...take a free prize from a cereal box and run it over with a Mac truck. Then take the G Shock and run it over with a Mac truck...see which lasts. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂
