What’s happening in this Mean Girls movie clip?
Cady (Lindsay Lohan) becomes the new prom queen and decides to break her crown and distribute the pieces to different people in the room including Regina George (Rachel McAdams).

What’s the movie Mean Girls about?
Raised in the African bush country by her zoologist parents, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) thinks she knows about "survival of the fittest." But the law of the jungle takes on a whole new meaning when the home-schooled 15-year-old enters public high school for the first time and falls prey to the psychological warfare and unwritten social rules that teenage girls face today.
Invited to hang out with the most exclusive clique of the school “The Plastics”, she will fall in love with the leader’s Regina George (Rachel McAdams) ex boyfriend Aaron Samuels. Engaging in a tricky double dealing, Cady will progressively become like the rest of the group and lose herself in the process.

What has always stood out to me about this scene isn’t the speech Cady gives, which is incredibly powerful in and of itself, but Regina‘s response to Cady giving her a piece of the crown. There are just so many unsaid things in the way she utters those two seemingly simple words, “Thank you“; things like, “Finally, someone sees _me_, “ or “Finally, I’m worth something.“

I like to think that underneath the bullying, the enabling so-called “mom“ who spoiled her rotten (big ups to Amy Poehler on her portrayal of that character, ) the endless hours of putting on just the right make up, just the right clothes, just the right hair products etc. and being a shallow, vindictive bitch, there was an insecure, scared little girl who simply wanted to be noticed/validated and Regina‘s queen bee persona was just that; a mask the raw and real her hid behind.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed having watched the video clips on YouTube that Cady took the blame for the burn book, yeah sure she hung around with the plastics and contributed ONE comment but that doesn’t mean she should have taken all the responsibility for it happening and allowing Regina, Karen and Gretchen to be off the hook. The burn book existed before she even arrived at the school.
