Ukrainian and Russian soldiers fighting in streets of Bakhmut - BBC News

Ukrainian and Russian soldiers are fighting on the streets of Bakhmut, but the city hasn't been taken by Russia just yet according to the city's deputy mayor, Oleksandr Marchenko.

He told the BBC that the city is almost destroyed, with not a single building untouched as a result of the conflict.

Russian troops - from Wagner and regular Russian forces - are believed to have the city surrounded, but thousands of its troops are reported to have died during the offensive.

What the BBC knows but won't say is if Russia takes Bakhmut they've defeated Ukraine's heaviest defenses and there won't be much left to stop them going further.

God bless all those who are on the front lines.. especially The Ukranians and those Russian soldiers who do not want to be there but are being forced at gun point to do so.
