NASA | SDO: Year 2

April 21, 2012 marks the two-year anniversary of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) First Light press conference, where NASA revealed the first images taken by the spacecraft. This video highlights just some of the amazing events witnessed in SDO's second year.

These are advanced cameras with various different filters. Also, these images are not from a terrestrial telescope, they are taken from a spacecraft that is closer to the sun and there is no atmosphere to block the view.

Very beautiful song and images. It interesting to notice that the coronal mass ejections fall back into the sun, possibly due to the massive gravity. Interessante notar que as emissões de massa coronal caem de volta no sol.

How come when you see the sun from earth it is just this blinding white ball of light. And even with the help of optical telescopes the only details you can make out are sunspots.
