Mona Lisa's Hidden Messages Revealed: Leonardo Da Vinci Tried To Warn Future Generations
500 years ago a man painted a portrait of a woman and created one of the most iconic and mysterious paintings we know. The man is Leonardo da Vinci - an artist, inventor, genius, engineer, and the picture - the familiar Mona Lisa.
Mona Lisa is one of the most iconic paintings. Painted in the early 16th century, the Mona Lisa is known for its enigmatic smile, masterful technique and deep mystery. But beyond its superficial beauty lie hidden mysteries and special symbolism that have captivated the imagination of people for centuries.
From claims that the painting is a portrait of a man or a self-portrait, through questions about the reason for the famous mysterious smile, to hidden symbols and mirror images, the Mona Lisa is the subject of endless speculations.
What is it about this painting that makes it so mysterious and intriguing?
One of the mysteries is that no one is actually 100% sure if the painting is actually called like that. There are many theories about its origin, none of which have been fully proven. It is not even certain whether Leonardo da Vinci himself painted it or whether it was one of his students.
The only thing that most experts agree on is that the picture was painted over a long period of time - more than 4 years, and there are even doubts that it is not finished yet.
It is very likely that Leonardo da Vinci almost never parted with it and over the years he constantly added various touches such as secret codes and messages for future generations.
Leonardo is the author of some of the most famous paintings in the world - "Mona Lisa", "The Last Supper", "The Lady with an Ermine". He was a genius whose inventions were centuries ahead of their time. He drew drawings of tanks, helicopters, diving suits and even a camera - all kinds of strange things for those times that have become a reality these days.
Some people believe that if we match Leonardo's paintings, which fit together like a giant jigsaw puzzle, we will be able to unlock the secrets of the universe. Did he really try to reveal to us a secret knowledge that, in order to avoid the interference of the church, he encoded through symbols in his paintings?
But let's start from the beginning - What do we think we know about the life of Leonardo da Vinci?
It is believed that Leonardo was the illegitimate child of a nobleman / entrepreneur - Piero and a peasant girl from the town of Vinci, named Catharina. More precisely, Caterina was only 15 years old when she was seduced by the rich Florentine notary Piero. Their relationship was short-lived, and when Leonardo was born, his father married another woman. Leonardo spent his earliest years with his mother, and then, contrary to expectations, the care of the little boy was taken over by his father, Piero, with whom he spent a lot of time in Florence, and then later moved to live there. At that time, Florence was the center of the cultural revival - the Renaissance. A time when the human spirit was awakened and inspired to reach new heights of creativity, knowledge and above all spirituality. But also a time that revealed a hidden world of mysticism and esoteric knowledge that fueled many of the era's greatest artistic and scientific achievements, including Leonardo.
The interesting thing here is that we have very little information about Leonardo's mother. Who was she? Did he inherit any talents from her? According to an anonymous author from the 16th century, Leonardo was "per madre nato di bon sangue", i.e. of good maternal descent, and there are also suggestions that she came from somewhere in the east..
There is an exciting theory that Leonardo's mother, Catherina was initiated in the esoteric knowledge of the Cathars (the word cathar comes from the Greek katharoi, "the pure ones”). Back then Catharism was a Christian gnostic movement which thrived in Southern Europe, particularly in northern Italy and southern France between the 12th and 14th centuries. The Cathars believed a person can return to being a son of God and free himself from the wheel of birth and death by following the path of Christ initiation. What is interesting about them is that a person could not become a Cathar only by baptism or by joining the religious community and thus achieve liberation of the soul. Becoming a cathar could happen only through Christ's mystery of initiation into the Holy Grail.
