This was a week where Afghanistan, a conflict that’s been practically forgotten was back in the news again.

The Taliban regime clamped down further on women by issuing new decrees banning them from parks, gyms and public recreation. It conducted the first public execution in years and also revived its earlier brutal practice of public flogging, many of these were women seen unaccompanied by male relatives.

This week on Worldview, Suhasini Haidar looks at the Taliban's promises on inclusive government and women’s rights, and India's stand on the Taliban and on non-Taliban leadership.

Correction. At 3:14. Taliban did not take Kabul by force. They took over because the Afghan government fled.

The Muslims from other countries should launch a Jihad against the Taliban, and till they are overthrown all funding should be limited to bare necessities. If Islam is being ‘misused’ then the Islamic populations have a responsibility to fix it.

Imagine fund raising for girl’s education in Afghanistan when they are being flogged in the streets just for stepping out of home.

Afghans should have fought off Taliban. If they don't then no one can help them.
