8:52 that synchronized release is so satisfying. I had to rewatch it a few times. Game character gets the arrow on the string faster, but Shad is faster at drawing the string back.

I forgot this was a supercut untill I saw the nail. Glad you're refreshing content in this shortened way.

Having been using a longbow for 8 years, this is a question I have thought about

Your aim was true in the video, thank you for making it Shadlands!!

Great video as always, Shad! You’ve talked before about the best adventurer weapons, but I would be interested in what you think the optimal 3-4 person adventurer party load-out would be? Assuming just conventional equipment and no magic.

I definitely think the nail catch is the correct solution for a long bow. For a shorter bow, I think you could use a similar solution that you did for a sword on the back.

The nail catch, in the right place, could double as a sighting device. When I was drafting my fantasy novels, I struggled with how my archer hero was going to carry his recurve bow while wearing a cloak. My solution was to have a clip/grip on the saddle, then stress the awkwardness of bow and cloak if he was on foot.

Simple & effective = *chef’s kiss*. A nail and matching sleeve with triangular or rectangular cross-section could even keep it secure from unwanted rotation. 👍

As an Egyptian enthusiast, I prefer to ride around in a chariot with my bow and spear in separate holsters, lording my superiority over the peasants.

Glad these shorter videos are working better! Continuing to pray that Shadiversity main channel can be unblacklisted or shadow banned or whatever it is that happened to it

I can't imagine the amount of advancements which would have been made if you, videogames, and the collection of comment sections were available in medieval times.

Glad to see this supercut, since I read WoT recently I immediately thought of the bow cases the Aiel use. I didn't quite get what those were supposed to be, so I searched online and it seems that the Ottomans (and probably other cultures as well) had these things like sheaths or scabbards in which they could put a strung bow (maybe only for shortbows, at least that's what I've seen). And to minimise the required materials, the bottom of these cases could be open, so the bow would be held in by it's curved shaped while strung, without it resting on the tip of the bottom limb. I imagine it would be useful on horseback, since the case could be strapped in front of the rider, I didn't see images of them strapped to anything though. As for the Aiel in WoT, I imagine they'd strap those cases on their backs, so they can use their spears and bucklers. Iorveth in Witcher 2 also has a case for his bow, it sits pretty much below his waist, so his elven longbow doesn't peak out much above his head.

You could adapt this for heavier weapons.

The cylinder portion needs strapped down when you upholster, which is easy to consider as it could be part of a harness.

Holstering would require a sliding strap or quick disconnect that would allow you to loosen the portion with the cylinder temporarily, then tighten back down.

This is a creative and functional way to carry a long bow. And it’s also quite repeatable for anyone who wants to try making their own sling. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting coming up with such an ingenious piece of equipment.

This is so cool! I wish that video game could use this method not just let the bow magically float on the character back.

I love these quick and cheap episodes that give us the knowledge we need or make whatat you already said quicker,

Your other channel was great being able to do lots of big things but your humor sometimes was over used and a second edited version would of been nice that was shorter, sadly shorter videos atract more people because they can learn more in the same time,
Its also just less daunting...

Overall i think this new channel will do well

I suppose you could use the exact same nail catch with a spear or any other polearm, very good innovation/invention Shad!
