Excellent! I've made many of both recurves, longbows, and flatbows. I still enjoy shooting them all. Thank you for keeping the spirit of the wood bow alive.

Great video Dream. For me the big deciding factor is string alignment. I’ve ruined plenty of recurves by trying them on staves with too much twist

What i love about the longbow design is that it‘s amazingly simple and very old. It‘s been used since the stone age. Also you don‘t waste as much bow wood (there can be made two narrow longbows from a wide Møllegabet stave).

I love the look of recurves, but generally I need a long bow to shoot comfortably as I have a very long draw length.

What’s a bow called when it’s a recurve combined with a panobscot design ? Wind warrior max p is on example from white wolf archery. It looks like a recurve bow but has the second bow attached like in a panobscot design

Longbows are easier to make than recurves but I think every bow has a purpose. Why else would the ancients make them the way they did? Man it would be cool to talk to some of them and actually see how they did all this!

I've broken Black Locust bow recently due to compression cracks. I'mstarting to dislike this bowwood. Maybe I should see someone's buildalong of a B.L. bow and how they prevent compression cracks from appearing. Great video as always.

Hey man, love the video. You should try more the long bow style! I'm currently working on a 'less long bow' 😂, an elm stave full of knots and with a natural reflex of almost 5 inches! But It's a pain in the neck to hold it steady on the tillering board, because it slips off every time I try to heave it back, how do you usually keep your bows still? As a faithful viewer i would like to challenge you by making a long bow with recurved tips, I don't think it is storically accurate, but still worth the experiment! Atb

As a junior bowyer, I want specialize in designs that give straight limb bows amazing power and reactivity compared to recurves.

What do you think about hollow limb bows?

I like that you shoot a longbow with khatra. One doesn't see that too often.

You can see why the longbow was the most popular weapon in medieval times, recurves would've been far more expensive and fragile too

The choice depends on the job...ex: hunt on wide open messa, a long bow with heavy arrows! In varied forest/ grassland areas, a recurve n medium weight arrows! In Sable palm n live oak forests either a " short bow "and 28" arrows, or a "stick bow" with 32" cedar, four flight, arrows!
Just MHO..But, these are my tools for hunting n bowfishing! Thanks for sharing!!

I don’t like English longbows at all. They are extremely inefficient which is why they needed such a high draw weight. The huge length meant the wood wasn’t under as much stress. I guess the rounded narrow limbs and high draw weights were both to help with that.

Long bow vs recurve....a recurve with static bends at the end is just a long bow that's been shortened.but can be braced the same as the longer bow.
