As an Islander myself I feel the need that to express that this isn't the perfect solution to Alcohol and that the abuse of Kava is a very real concept. Some people no longer work in the farms or sail out to fish from abusing Kava. They would sooner use their weekly money to spend on Kava than tend to their hungry wife and kids. The drug itself is not addicting, but the brain starts craving the sedative sensation too much that your work ethic too becomes sedated. Don't get me wrong, I drink Kava once a week and its fine to do so, but I see people drink Kava everyday and see how negatively it affects their household.

It’s true any substance that alters your mood can become addictive. The potential for abuse is there for sure. But when I replaced booze with kava and kratom every aspect of my life improved by SO much. I got back into lifting and put on 25 pounds and am getting towards my strength and physique goals that just wouldn’t have been possible with me drinking beer and wine every night. No hangovers so no sleeping through alarms and horrible anxiety. For someone like me that’s always needed some sort of substance or ritual at the end of the day, these plants have literally been life changing for me. Very grateful.

There is one other use for Kava and that is anyone coming off antidepressants, suffering withdrawal as I did. If you take 3 Kava tablets a day the dreadful side effects will just disappear. I took them three tablets a day for 2 months and when I stopped them, there was no sign of withdrawal from the antidepressants. It saved my life. If ever I get into a stressful situation and my mind becomes overactive, and ruminating thoughts of the situation, I just take Kava for a couple of days and all symptoms disappear. Much better than antidepressants and no addiction. 10/10! They sell Kava tablets in pharmacies here in Australia.

Im really interested in trying this, I myself happen to be an alcoholic, Not only too relieve stress and pain but i like to drink, i always have to have something in my hands, its like smoking, like a ritual thing. I really hope to overcome my addiction to alcohol (Yes alcohol addiction has ran in my family generations) alcohol has ruined many things in my life and im tired of being sick and tired. I Just found some local places that sell kava so sometime soon im going to give it a try so wish me luck :) I might make a video about it if it works good to help other people whom are dependant on alcohol, my dream would be to overcome and help other people over come, then i maybe i wouldnt feel like the last 10-11 yrs of my life as a waste. I love Kava effect and I don't know if its only me, but I don't get any calming or euphoric effect from alcohol. its just make you feel bad.. so I don't understand how people like it and become addicted to it.

Yessss! I just tried kava root tea for the first time tonight and I felt buzzed/high but when I went to drive I was totally fine. And I feel super calm. I am gonna but this tea and drink it before a night out. Hell yeah.

Ok you, the Guy in the video, I want to ask you cuz you look like you work out allot .

As you probably know Kava is high in starch due to it's propagation by replanting it's roots or stems (cloning).

Do you notice that it makes you gain weight or a gut? Or is it really resistant starch that's in Kava hich they say you don't digest but helps you clear the G.I. tract?

I tried this, and I don't think I prepared it correctly, but I did notice some nice effects. I think the big problem is that the perceptible effects did not last as long as an average drink of alcohol. Take that how you will, because I used four regular spoonfuls of kava and threw it into the blender, I didn't blend for as long as I should have, and then I filtered with an old T-shirt. I don't think I totally screwed it up, because it numbed my mouth for a bit, but I think I need to buy one of the AluBalls and try making it that way instead.

Just for harm reduction and accuracy, I just want to clarify that xanax / Valium are NOT anti-depressants. They are anxiolytics (anti-anxiety) medications that also act on your GABA receptors. Anti-depressants act on your serotonin and in some cases norepinephrine and dopamine receptors. Also if you take benzodiazepines like xanax / valium or drink alcohol regularly, do NOT mix them with kava. not saying it'll kill you if you do, but they act similar on the body and especially the alcohol / kava combination can be quite hard on the liver. ESPECIALLY if your kava is Tudei Kava and not Noble Kava. stay safe and stay natural brothers and sisters.
