Thank you, Ubiquiti for sending this switch out!
UniFi Pro Max switching combines 2.5 GbE performance with high-power PoE++ output - an ideal pairing for use with UniFi 6 GHz capable WiFi APs like the U6 Enterprise, U6 Enterprise In-Wall, and others. Pro Max switching also features Etherlighting - an innovative feature that illuminates ports for intuitive visual switch management. Etherlighting can currently be used to locate devices, distinguish between port speed/link, and identify each port's native VLAN - with additional modes coming soon. At the rack and need to find a specific camera? Use Etherlighting to quickly locate it. You can also set profiles for port speed/link and native VLAN for at-a-glance identification. There are four Pro Max switch models: Pro Max 48 PoE, Pro Max 24 PoE, Pro Max 48, and Pro Max 24. 1/3 of the RJ45 ports are 2.5 GbE on all models. The PoE models have PoE+ and PoE++ output ports.

MSRP:
Pro Max 24 PoE = $799
Pro Max 48 PoE = $1,299
Pro Max 24 = $449
Pro Max 48 = $549

Props to the person who thought of that idea, that is pretty cool

Love the innovation Ubiquiti has going and the fact that it is useful in the real world! Thanks for the video!

7:59 So the special Ubiquiti connectors show the colors better? I would think the regular crystal clear RJ45 would show up better.

Great presentation!
Colour identification is a neat addition, but why didn't they just put a visible rgb led ABOVE each port? Keep it simple...

Nice review. FWIW In the Port Manager there is a "shrink window" icon top right that takes you back to the overview panel for the switch. Saves a couple of clicks.

If they’re anything like the LED on their AP expect a shelf life of 4 months

Good to see the 2.5Gbit POE++. My initial reaction to rgb was, damn everything doesn't need rgb. Then I thought of the use case if you have standardized different VLANs to colors, and the people plugging things in aren't colorblind, it could be useful for them. However, we use Cisco at work :(

Thanks Willie! I just got mine in the mail. 😁 Can't wait to get is setup. This will be my first switch install after entering the Unifi world of networking at our small Airbnb complex, just last year. Started off with just the UDM PRO SE. Hope things go smooth! 😬

Wow! RGB on networking.

I can see potential appeal, but does it add to the cost of the switches?

I don't care about the RGB. But finally we have 2, 5Gbit.

Ok ... fiber optic strand through the patch cable so both ends light up. Seems obvious to me, but it doesn't appear that's the way it works.

I can see how the vlan colors could be practical. However, I don't see the need for our server racks to be lighting up like xmas trees, unless you're a home enthusiast. I also worry about the longevity of these higher power RGB leds.

I really hope for an update to the Dream Machine Pro SE so that it is possible to turn the port activity LEDs on and off. This would be a game changer for many. That being said, the Unifi Pro Max is an interesting Switch, PoE++ is definitely important for upcoming access points with Wi-Fi 7 support.

I prefer the leds on my switch to show line activity. Cool concept tho.

How is the fan noise? Looking to place it in my office, but not sure if it runs loud. My UDM:SE + Pro-24 run silent and I am hoping this Pro Max runs about the same.

Can you say something about the loudness? How much do you hear the fan? Background: I am planning to install this or the ProMax 24 without POI in my office without a case. Thank you very much

Its worth it just for the new port layout, i am not bothered about led port lighting its more of a consumer thing.

I am also not bothered about poe for my setup, i have enough poe injectors sat around.

It would be even cooler if the RGB lights were above the ports so they worked equally well regardless of what ethernet cable you use.

How about a "Find Me" function where you can make the port light blink? It would be helpful when finding the problem port. Yes, the current process works, a blinking port light makes it easier. "What wire did you say?". "Just unplug the blinking patch cord!".
