Color based on VLAN is such a great idea. Hell even just being able to make a port glow will make it so much easier to guide people at remote sites.

This looks absolutely cool! But besides the "cool-factor" it brings to the table, it also seems to be very useful. So i really do hope that other UniFi hardware like the dream machine will get this as well in the future. Would be cool to link those ports to the same colors. Great video!

I can always appreciate any 24-port switches with all their ports layed flat to match your typical 24-port patch panel. That alone makes me wanna swap my 24-Pro-Poe for this new flavor

I think once etherlighting matures it will definitely be useful for field engineers, complete colour gambit for tagged and access ports would be very helpful for "at a glance" patching. And using it to trace cables would be very useful

as a network engineer/admin that works remote i would love this on my switches to be able to quickly point someone onsite where to connect a device to a configured port. "plug cable for what ever device into the pulsing blue port" is alot easier then ok in the rack should be the second switch down port number 12

Holy crap this is a game changer. I always get totally angry when I plug in and can't get to anything then look at the IP and find I am on a different vlan. When You are in a company full of network engineers the switches get reconfigured all the time so a port on the production network today will be on some obscure vlan tomorrow. Thanks man I love this.

I wouldn't buy a new switch for etherlighting but I can definitely see where it would be useful. I imagine a bunch of homelabers would thing it enough to show off their rack. An additional feature I would like to see is a mode that would simply alternate between showing port speed and vlan. It is only two states and you should be able to show both without having to change between menus.

My setup isn't complicated enough to need etherlighting, but I can definitely see the appeal for troubleshooting. Given the price, does seem like they could have offered more 2.5G ports.
