Legal version of this Banned Throw is Just as Dangerous!

Ude-gaeshi is banned in judo due to the risk of joint injury. This legal variation is also dangerous. White won by ippon.

This is not Ude geashi. This would be a old school seoinage variation. Ude geashi most of the time is completely harmless. To see someone try or teach udegeashi I can recommend isao okano. His Ude geashi is just beautiful.

This is a variation of seoi-otoshi. Ude-gaeshi is a "variation" of yoko-wakare, because looks like that. But, ude-gaeshi is a variation of ude-hishigi-te-gatame waza and uke drops down in a rotationg movement to escape the kansetsu-waza. (DAIGO, 2005, p. 257). Remember, ude-gaeshi looks like yoko-wakare, SUTEMI-waza.

I think that we need to understand that judo is first of all a martial arts and after that is a sport, keeping banning tecniques just because sometimes there are injuries is pointless and it ruin this martial art.

Excuse me any banned throw. Perfect seoi nage! Uke avoided ouchi gari first but Tori go under Uke perfectly and she threw her by seoi nage. Very nice moment. Uke unfortunate left her hand in the uncomortable position where was injured. But that's judo and sometimes, unfortunately, injuries can happen.

I understand the frustration of banning techniques and the argument of "is a martial art, what did you expect" but let's take this argument to its logical conclusion : why don't you just for the groin ? Why don't just smash your opponent's face with an elbow ? Why don't you just poke their eyes ?
If your understanding of a martial art is just a mean to win against somebody then there's no point of it being a sport or even having rules. Would you like receive a lifelong injury while practicing your favorite martial art ?

Limitations like this not only protect the athletes from unnecessary risk (because at the end of the day that will always be risk on a mat, by accidents for example) but they make the fights more interesting and sometimes even force the new generation carrying the torch to be more creative.

I get learning a crazy technique they will break someone's arm, I get that it may come in handy in a self defense situation but you're watching a sport, not a fight for someone's life.
I don't like to assume things but people who champion this argument just come across someone who's never been in a fight, never stepped on a mat and are just getting their kicks watching someone getting hurt for life on YouTube.

This is just seoi with uke's arm accidentally trapped in the wrong position. No fault of tori: nothing to ban, you can't ban accidents. And this is te waza, not sutemi, and has nothing to do with ude gaeshi.

Judo is generally safe but it is a contact sport. Throws that leverage against joints can be dangerous. This, to me, seems to just be bad luck.
