Actually. All foreign movies are banned in North Korea. Watching a foreign movie in North Korea is a 15 year prison sentence

As a Kazakh, Borat isnt officially banned here and never was. What actually happened was that it provoked a huge wave of negative reaction in the society on its premiere that demanded that it gets banned. The prime minister initially made a speech addressing this, saying that the government shouldn't ban anything but they hope that the movie theaters wont be showing it in sense of national dignity and self respect. Most largest Kazakh movie theater chains boycotted it and didnt show it (not really because they care about all that but mostly because they didnt wanna get canceled all over the media and lose clients and money). If im not mistaken some smaller local ones actually ran the movie but it failed at the box office still. Then yeah, after seeing the tourism go up our prime minister started changing shoes in the air, meeting with Sacha Baron, speaking good of the movie and even using Borat quotes as tourist slogans for Kazakhstan, for which many people here still hate him

Saddam Hussein actually reportedly loved the movie. He even sent Matt Stone and Trey Parker a signed copy of the movie.

Honorable mention to Top Gun: Maverick being banned in China, because Maverick’s jacket had the Taiwanese and Japanese flags on it. And China does not like that one bit, so Cruise and Paramount cut ties in regards to Top Gun, and went home.
Also it was banned in Russia, for reasons you can probably find on your own.
