This comment ties back into what Yaron said about how you define productivity. For example, You don't see many people calling a calling international switchboards and waiting for 10 mins to be connected, or requiring a bunch of people to print off and distribute 1500 paper copies of each memo and deliver them by hand. Now days one person can pick up the phone, and direct dial almost any person in the world while simultaneously crafting and distributing a memo instantaneously via email.

It works for some people, not necessarily everybody. For example, the scheme you describe requires yo to drum up your next job, and to not be able to count on a regular pay check.

I thought that increasing productivity inherently means that you can hire lower cost of labor per product. Those who get paid higher wages are solely the ones who make that higher productivity of fellow workers possible. The lower paid people merely execute, maybe some faster and a bit more precise, but they are not the ones to deserve greatly rewarded for actual productivity gain. Their gain is that they will be able to afford now cheap goods/services that were too expensive for them before.

Ryan Jamieson independent contacting isn't all it's cracked up to be. I was and they still cut everyone's pay. If we c as a community don't act as a community any scheme won't work. if. we act like a true community, a moneyless system would work.

Easy question, I think : take a machine that doubles a worker's productivity. Should the worker be paid more because he uses it? No, because the inscrease was made possible by the engineer, who designed it, and the capitalist, who actually constructed it (and the scientist, etc, etc). That's clearly explained in Atlas Shrugged. A worker cannot significantly increase his productivity with his bare hands, which is what he's paid for. That he is actually paid more is only the result of the win-win effect of capitalism.

there's also the fact that certain industries pay much more

I get paid much more generously (because I have good performance) working in finance compared to how much I got paid at the warehouse I worked at all through college

true if the government didn't mess with the economy, we'd be in a better place. Also we need to focus on local economies to heal this country's economy.

What I hear a lot is something like "The top 1% income has increased while the 99% and middle class has remained flat" or something like that. Now, partially that does make some sense because of the regulations, inflation, etc. If you are at the top 1% you are going to be well connected and able to transfer your costs to the general population through false government in a cronie-socialist system. But these people conclude we need socialism to fix that and capitalism is the cause.

The fact is that FAMILY incomes stabilized, PERSONAL income keeps rising.
