Very short, concise, straight to the point. Great video, thanks.

In old norse, the letter R travels back and forth in time constantly and rapidly, resulting in a quantum anomaly that makes its presence overlap itself across many of the infinite points in time, like many copies of the same film roll on top of one another, shifting only slightly so that parts of multiple copies can be distinctively seen. To the human ear, it resembles a kind of reverb. truly a fascinating language.

This was a great video. We have an animal sanctuary and have themed naming many of the animals after "Vikings" or old Norse names to pay tribute to their strength. I've always tried to find the authentic ways to pronounce these names and this video was so helpful and informative. Thank you so so much!

Seems like, accent aside, we say these pretty close to correct in English. Just instead of a TH sound, we tend to make a D sound in some of them (Odin, Midgard, Asgard, so on). I always like to know I'm saying things at least close to properly, given a language barrier, so this was interesting to know. Great video.

So what do you think of the idea that Odin and Óðr are the same deity in slightly different linguistic branches, and that Frigg and Freya were both Odin's wives? Polygyny was practiced in many Germanic tribes, including the Norse, and I think that Snorri was repelled by the idea of Odin having more than one wife, recognized the linguistic relationship between Odin and Óðr, and in his Prose Edda, insisted they were separate gods. Frigga and Freya both included weaving in their spheres of interest, and I find it interesting that Freya got half of the heroic dead and Odin got the other half, instead of Odin getting all of them. This division would make more sense if Freya was also Odin's wife - perhaps a part of the bride price? Thoughts?

If you can't trill your Rs does it actually matter? Will it upset anyone and will they be able to understand you?

I can get the sounds and pronounce them fine, but I cannot for the life of me roll my Rs.

How do you pronounce "heim" like in Tronjheim or Heimdallr? I've heard it pronounced "haym", "heem", and "hime". Which is correct?
