Making the Melody Sing with Colorful Embellishments | Steve Herberman

In this video excerpt, Steve Herberman shows how to add musicality to playing melodies, in order to create a singing quality. Steve demonstrates how to use different left hand techniques such as slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs to add colorful embellishments. He also demonstrates the difference between using a pick and playing with your fingers to explore the different tone possibilities, all while exploring the many ways a melody can be played on the guitar using different strings and fingerings. Steve is great at explaining how to make a melody “sing” and how to create a horn-like quality. This lesson is sure to expand your melodic vocabulary!
