Etsy is my full time job. Between filling orders and designing, I’m on from sunrise to past sundown. I start my day at 7am and depending on how many orders I have, I won’t call it quits till midnight. My breaks are a few dog walks. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are eaten at the computer. My family sleeps in late so on family days I manage to slip some work in before they wake up. I love what I do. I turned a hobby into a business so I don’t think of it as work.

3-4 hours per day is a gross understatelment of time required. I make gorgeous minimalist handbags. It takes me minimum 4.5 hours in production per bag. Add in photographing/video and editing (maybe 100 pics to get 10 acceptable ones), packaging & shipping (including driving to the PO), putting up new listings, keeping track of inventory, purchasing timely in wholesale amounts, designing new products, etc. More like an 8-10 hour day if you have regular but not massive amounts of sales.

Thank you for another informative video. I have my greeting cards business as a "side hustle" alongside my full time job. I try and do an hour minimum. What you are saying is 100% true, the more you spend on your etsy, the more rewards you will receive. I had a week off work and spent 8ish hours a day on my etsy, by the end of the week i was getting so many more sales! If only i could clone myself! Polly, Macclesfield

Thanks for this great advice. My time spent per day really varies. There are times that I just can't give it all the attention it needs (dealing with teens and health issues), but I have been trying to be better prepared and making new things for fall, Halloween and Christmas. I've been collecting certain kinds of sea glass all year to create Christmas tree necklaces that I have already listed. I spent the last week out searching for sea glass, sorting and organizing it all so I can start creating again. Trying to get to 100 listings like you recommend. Right now I'm at 81.

I spend 10 hours a day, sometimes more, working on Etsy. Plus I have been using a helper this week because I have been busier than usual in one of my shops.

Great video! An average of two hours a day (at least) and most days off work.

I spend about 4 hours a day and list one new item a day for each of my 3 stores. Most of my time is design and research. I spend about an hour filling orders. As in most things the more time spent, the bigger return, even when working smart.

I put in at least 5 hours a day. I am always restocking and making or researching new skincare ingredients.

Hi Etsy consultant, Excuse me, I don't know your name 😅, but I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks for sharing such valuable information on your channel. Your insights are incredibly helpful. I believe that in addition to dedicating time to our Etsy shop, we should also set aside time to watch valuable videos like yours to learn more helpful hacks. Thank you so much!

Great content! Question, if I'm able to create 3-4 listings a day, (spending 8 hours a day working) what do you recommend as a listing schedule? Still only one a day? A few hours in between posting? Thanks in advance!!

Unfortunately I am currently unable to give time every day - but usually over a week, I try to dedicate 8 hours to my business (which also includes a YT channel).

Quick question that I’m hoping you can clarify, you say 2 hours minimum to design and post a listing each day. I take it you don’t mean a full two hours in Etsy specifically? From my understanding you mean the whole process of designing the product imagery (in canva or equivalent) and then posting to Etsy would be 2 hours? Not that you’re sitting tweaking that one listing on Etsy alone for 2 hours…

More doing quality over quantity but depends since I work full time

I do have a question though …

Do you recommend shop categories by product type or themes

For example autumn or winter
Or product type like notebooks or phone cases

Two hours per listing is really unrealistic to me for a POD store. At least for me. I am taking so much time with my design and mockups I might get one done in 2 days. I have 610 listings and have sold over 450 items in a little over a year. I think I am doing something very wrong. Not sure what so could REALLY use some help!!!
