Candidates for public office seem to lose their memories once elected. Perhaps some MRI studies might help shed some light on this.

Here's to Henry Molaison. His life could not have been easy, he clearly went through struggles every single moment since that fateful bike ride. But what we were able to learn from him has taught us so much about the brain, that he will surely increase the quality of, and likely even save the lives of countless people, making him a true hero. Thanks Henry!

My jaw dropped at 1:37. It's amazing how the general populace knows how important certain parts of the brain are, yet in the 1950s, a doctor removes 3 important structures from a brain to save someone's life. Gosh what a good time to be born in.

I have had brain surgery for a tumour and because of this surgery, I have mild anterograde amnesia.
I am terrible with names but when I repeat things, I remember.

I remembered the beginning of this episode because it got me thinking about how much I like this channel! Funny how that works.

Thanks Hank, this was super interesting!
And I love how throughout the episodes I always have one big question, but then you manage to answer it shortly afterwards.

now imagine the progress if those sentenced to death were first experimented with this kind of stuff

Molaison is almost exactly like the guy in the movie "Memento", who also couldn't form new memories

Did the procedure actually stop his seizures? That would suck if it didn't even work.

This is very interesting to watch some weeks after seeing the movie 'Memento' (good movie, watch it), they sure did they research on the subject.

I didn't watch this video, so I have no opinion or memory of it, but I DO know that he human brain is the only organ in the human body that named itself.

Extremely dark and depressing content delivered in an extremely upbeat and chipper tone.

I love this show!

I wonder what kind of unexpected consequence would occur if we surgically removed the HAIR AROUND LITO'S

The ethical question, though, is "did he consent to the experiments and brain donation and if so how was it determined that he had enough awareness to consent?"
