Just so all of you girls out there know, from a father who has two little girls, NO MAN will EVER love you the way your Daddy loves you. I would do absolutely anything in the world, give my last beat from my heart, and the last breath from my lungs, for my little angels. A man will tell you he loves you more than anything else in the world, just remember, your mom, and especially your daddy, will ALWAYS love you more than anyone else in the world (if they're of any count). My daughters are 3 and 1 and it already breaks my heart knowing that some day, some boy is going to come take them from me and their mother. No boy will ever be good enough for her. I won't stand in the way, but I will always think he's not good enough, because he can't possibly love her as much as I do, but that's okay. As long as he gets close, treats her with respect, never lays a finger on her (if he wants to live to see the sunrise the day after I find out about that), always believes in her and pushes her to chase her dreams and be the best she can be, and allows her to do those things for him too. My wife and I have been together for 10 years and she's my best friend and the only woman in the world who truly understands me. So, to all you girls out there listening to this song for your wedding, trust me, your guy's love pales in comparison to your father's, if your father is a good man and loves his daughter like a real man should. I hope you all have found a man (or woman) who treats you with the respect you deserve, and is CLOSE to loving you as much as your mother and father love you, but just know that there is no love greater than that of a parent towards their children. My wife and I joke about that all the time. When we were dating and first married, we thought we had a once in a world kind of love because the chemistry and love STILL (even after ten years) feels incredible between us, but once we had our first child, we laughed in the face of what we THOUGHT love was before that. We both know we love our children infinitely more than we could ever possibly love each other, and we both are ABSOLUTELY FINE with that, because we know we love each other as much as two soul mates can possibly love one another. There is just no comparison between spousal love and parental love. It is light years of difference between them. So, if you're reading this, do me a favor and go hug and kiss your dads, tell him you love him, and you know that no man will ever love you like he does, but that your guy is as close as that can be, and that's okay because you know he loves you as much as he can, it's just not possible for any other man to love you as much as your daddy does, or any other woman to love you as much as your mother does.

I lost my father several years ago. It was unexpected and it happened pretty fast. It was Christmas time and I was at college. It was the last day and then we were going to be out for Christmas break. Our school was hosting a talent show and during the middle of it I got a call from my aunt. She told me my dad was real sick and I needed to get to Texas to be by his side as soon as possible. I left that night from Kansas. I spent Christmas by his bed side. There were no gifts, no happy laughter. Just four, cold, white walls and the hum of the flickering ceiling light. In less than a week he was gone. I was only 23. I wasn't ready to face the world without the man who had been my rock throughout my entire life. I eventually found a new rock and I'm finally getting married next summer, to a man who treats me well. He reminds me of my father in many ways. Strong, funny, and has a great heart. I know my daddy would approve. And I was really upset about the father/daughter dance I was never going to have, but I think I can still have it with this song. I know my husband will hold me tight and let me cry on his shoulder, because lord knows I will, and I think it will be a great way to honor my father's life. So glad I came across this song today.
