Daddy, you've been gone for 20 years now, Daddy why didn't you tell me you got a Purple Heart? Mamma said after the war, you took your medal and found the POWs you rescued, found the POW that was in the worst condition and you pinned YOUR medal on his chest and after you saluted HIM you said " I'M NOT A HERO, ..YOU ARE!" Oh Daddy, I'm SOOOO PROUD OF YOU! But Daddy no one from the Military even showed up for your funeral!! Not even a FLAG for your coffin, and I cried like a baby. Never got your gun salute either or the headstone they promised us! Daddy, I visit your grave all the time and talk to you, I sure hope you hear me Daddy 1 Daddy ? I found out I'm not gonna be here much longer either, and I'm once again blessed that you're not here, but guess what ? You’re an amazing singer. This song made me cry, as 32 years ago my dad walked me down the aisle. Unfortunately I lost him a year ago at 94. He was a WWII British Army Signal Corps Sergeant. 6 years prior in 2013, 10 months apart, I first lost mom and after, my youngest daughter @ 21.
Now my husband is a Desert Shield/Storm Veteran/Officer 20 years of service. I’m very proud of both my late dad and my husband.
