The 10 Gigabit Cable Modem!

In this video we check out a new DOCSIS 3.1 model that claims speeds up to 10 Gbps. The only issue is that you'll never be able to reach that type of speed. But is it still worth it?

I wish they'd make a docsis3.1 modem with an sfp+ cage. That would be awesome.

What we really need is a 10 gb ethernet modem so you don't have to buy a switch. It won't make your internet any faster, but it will improve your connections to other devices on your network.

2gb Internet offering from Comcast is not DOCSIS over coax. It’s Metro-E fiber to your home using special CPE gateway with 2GB SFP + 1GB RJ-45 upstream connections.

I don't understand why they are even legally allowed to market it at 10 Gbps. Even with link aggregation, you'll never get 2 Gbps due to the inherent overhead of splitting and combining signal across two ports. Drives me freaking crazy. Can't wait to get fiber :(

Arris S33 is the king right now, that and the Motorola MB6811 (good luck finding that one though). They do full DOCSIS 3.1 over a 2.5Gbps port, I've got one running into the 2.5Gbps WAN port on my Asus router. Peak speeds actually improved slightly, probably due to ISP's over provisioning 1gig services

WTF? 10+ Gbps speeds but only 2 1-Gigabit ports? That doesn't add up. You need either 10 1-Gigabit ports in LACP or a 10GBase-T port or SFP+ port. I don't get it.

The 2 1Gbps ethernet ports on that modem can be bonded, and you "can" get 2Gbps if your router supporting Bonding Interfaces.

Good explanation of DOCSIS. You should look up "Link Aggregation" and do a follow-up video. Also- the lights on this router.... Dear Sweet Mother of Jo-jo.. are the BRIGHTEST LIGHTS I have ever seen on a modem. Bright enough that a bit of electrical tape doesn't help as it just lights up the entire case.
How about a followup video?

How do you bond the two 1GB channels? That is the obvious question.

Do you know anything about the Broadcom 10G DOCSIS 4.0 SOC being supplied to Comcast as they start spreading 10G through their network?

Now include a description below the video with a DOCSIS 3.1 modem that has faster (minimum 2.5Gbit/s) networking port(s) so people can actually get a modem that will last A LOT longer and thus In The END saves them money.
While already having the benefit of saving them on LOTS of lower latency experience!

If u have 1gig internet speed from your provider could each port deliver 1 gig simultaneously or, would it be split to 500megs each?

Will this modem go good with the neatgear ac2300 smart WiFi router with a 1ghz dual processor

Does it have a 10 gigabit port in the back? I keep seeing Docsis 3.1 modems sold with 1 gigabit ports.

Without the SFP+ ports in and out then they need to remove the 10Gb label as it is not. All of these "Multi-Gig" AKA 2.5Gb is just garbage and misleading.

I have 10 Gb ports all over the house and even a few 40Gb QSFP ports I used for Vm testing. Wven with Fiber input from the street, the fasest traffic I see is just under 1Gb throughput at the firewall. The Cable Modem hardware is just not up to speed literally.

I would prefer a true SFP+ output port from the cable modem and use a DAC cable to connect to the firewall.,
