Welcome back to The Ultimate Tech Hub. On today's episode we will show you our 10-Gigabit Home Network. We will talk about the speed, the installation, the 10 gigabit standards and price compared to Cat5e. This video should help you fully understand a 10-Gigabit Home Network setup. In most cases even though you have a 10 Gigabit Network you will not be utilizing the full 10 Gigabit speed unless you have 10 Gigabit Fiber Optics. If you have any questions about 10 Gigabit Networks please leave them in the comments below. This did not age well, nor do you actually understand why many people, not just datacenters want and need 10Gig. Ever edit video? Sure you can do it over 1gig, but 2.5 is the minimum acceptable for anything over 1080p. 4K and above cries for all the speed you can throw at it and many people edit off of their NAS boxes that have the 10GB ports for just this reason.

thanks for this great video explanatory. my country just started opening up 10gbps internet speed for residential. i came across your video and was wondering if i should upgrade existing Cat5e to Cat 6a or Cat8. Your recommendation for future proofing is definitely worth it. i can still remember when i installed my house with Cat5e, and served me for the past 10+ years.

If you have existing Cat5 cabling you can always use it as guide to install Cat6 😀 just make the joint smoot so it doesnt get stuck while you pull on the other side 😀

Nice video but you don't get a 10gb network for internet speeds. You use it for lan speeds.

What network switch is the best (fastest) for fiber optic internet? Hence all cables are cat 6

I wired my house with Cat 6, all my gear is 1Gbps, some houses like mine are a pain to wire, so Cat 6 was a must for me to avoid a rewire in 10-20 years.

Hypothetically speaking if I connect a cat8 from my 10G LAN port of a high-end top-tier gaming MOBO to a 10G LAN ethernet port of my $1k router and again another cat8 from the second 10G ethernet LAN port of my router to a 10G port of a NAS server *should I get a local working 10G connection?*

Thanks for the great video on your in-house network. Our building is upgrading to fiber but My research on fiber modems is pretty mixed, especially when you realize that the Ethernet port are typically 1gb output. I don’t understand why the input port would be 10g but then the output to the network is only using a 1gb LAN port. It would be interesting to create a video on the available modems (not routers) and how companies advertise 10gb data to the house only to be limited to your home network by 1gb ports rather than 10gb ports.

Do you need a 10GB fiber plan for an internal 10GB network? I'm getting fiber, but at a 1GB plan.

I'm confused. None of your routers/switches are 10Gbe. Do you don't actually have a 10Gbe network, you just have 10Gbe compatible cables in a 1Gbe network, right?

How to know if it's CAT 5e or CAT 6? Thanks!

Here in Brazil already have 1gb (1000Mb) plans, it’s only expensive.

How many times can you say, I went with CAT6?

Is it worth putting doors and windows in your house or just leave the walls solid with no way in? (Re should you put in cat6. No. No you should put in cat6a at least. Shielded outer jacket at least ideally all pairs as well. With a grounded patch bay) you really like pinching cat cables. They is gonna break. What a mess. You should get the new ubiquiti dream wall.

How do you wire a network for 2.5gigabit with a WiFi. And staying protected cause I hear WiFi routers have built in protection. I’m getting eero 6 pro with my new 2gbit plan. I have seen I will need a 2.5 gbit usb 3.0 adapter for my iMac cause it maxes out on the built in Ethernet for 1 gig.

Could a cable marked CAT7 but stranded copper with an AWG27 gauge handle a 10GbE network without problems? What would be the maximum distance for this type of cable taking into account the gauge?

I'm wondering about using cat8 on. A 10gb network.

Did I see that you have a Roku device in your house? How do you adapt to the interference they put out?

We hope this video on 10-Gigabit Networks helps you understand how 10 Gigabit Networks work and all the costs associated with running a 10 gig network. Thanks for watching.

Did you knew that 50hz electricity cables cause interference when network cables and electricity cables are side by side. Interference can slow down your Network Speed... That is why Tier 3 Data Centers split Power cables from data cables
