I sympathize with the daughter having a strained relationship with her mother. But those emails sounded all cheery with the "Hi Mommy" and whatnot. If you don't want to be tied to your mom, don't accept money from her. And definitely don't promise to sign a contract you haven't read yet and then later try to claim it's not valid.

Always consider lending money to relatives or friends as a gift until they pay you back. Too many families and friendships have been ruined by money. Don't loan what you can't afford to give.

Her mother knows that she’s struggling to pay her bills and take care of her child. I would have just called the money a loss. Her flight from Denmark to America probably cost the same as the money she gave her.

That little “ victory clap” the mother gave at the end was a great indicator of how she feels about her daughter…which is very little. I wonder why at eight years old she placed her in foster care? Why she has not tried to form a mother daughter bond? She treats her as though she is a casual acquaintance she had loaned money to…and nothing more.

A mother who flew from Europe only to sue her daughter who placed her in a foster care, is an additional case itself. It just adds more trauma and therapy to the other daughter, who feel she deserved to be loved as well. While I LOVE Judge Judy, I feel she shouldn’t have taken that case.

From 8-18 this woman paid nothing for the child she brought into the world. Her husband didn’t want her to do this. She only did because of guilt. A logical person wouldn’t have loaned her anything because she evidently couldn’t pay the bills she already has. Shame on the Mom hope the daughter gets help to turn her life around.

Ugh. That clap at the end did it for me. So the daughter owes the money back. But if I were her, I'd gracefully bow out of the relationship, because the mother obviously has no genuine interest in her daughter.

Regardless I REALLY loved the defendant telling Judy that she wasn’t an idiot. Regardless of the circumstances Judy can be too abrasive and I don’t think the defendant was being rude or anything.

Also the Plaintiffs attitude, looks to her daughter, and celebratory clap at the ends really don’t go her any favors.

There is so much pain here, JJ is the wrong platform for this case. The plaintiff has just ruined the small amount of a relationship she has with the defendant, her daughter. WOW. Mother putting her child in foster care? old wounds...the daughter will probably never forgive her mom.
