How sad for the daughter to be placed into foster care at all, but especially at an age that the child is old enough to realize the role of a parent and it seems like she never came back for her, but had another daughter that she probably did take care of.

As someone who was also put into foster care at age 8, I can understand why there is an estranged relationship with her mother. I never lived with my mother again (29 yo), but she has helped me out as I live on my own.

One thing I learned (after a long time) is that my mother's sins for putting me in foster care does NOT mean she owes me. Just means motherhood wasn't for her, and as much as I hated that, when I came into that realization, our relationship were able to have a healthy relationship.

I don't get how people say the mother doesn't owe her cause she put her in Foster care. If you abandon your 8 year old you owe them for life. You were that child's word, safety, home and FAMILY. Yes you owe your children a good loving life. If you don't give them that the least you could do is help them out financially

You have your daughter up to age 8. Of course she has emotional scares. Of course she feels that her mother would help her out without this happening over such a small amount. This would be the end of my relationship with her. A loan is a loan but this is a whole another story that runs deeper then just a loan.
