Choosing a Squat Stance That Maintains Your Movement Options

A final word on squatting technique. (Okay definitely not the final one, but a final one for now).

It’s true that you’ll see powerlifters hitting a wider stance as the weight goes up. But is that the stance we should be teaching if we want the movement to translate better / give the athlete the most movement options?

I seriously need help finding “my” squat. Shoes with heel or without, high bar or low bar, wider stance or narrow.
I’m 6’4 and feel like I’ve over the years tried them all but nun feel like they have “clicked” with me.
I love deadlifts tho

Good info, but putting your knee forward, I've never been able to do that with my right leg. It seems I've got some type of impediment, maybe in the talus, could be bigger in my right than my left. I've never been able to get around that.

How do you fix constantly externally rotated hips? I have deficient hip internal rotation.

Um Steve Goggins kind of destroys your whole theory on minimal forward lean. So does Ben Rice. 2 very strong men, both fold over in the bottom of the squat.

that's how most people bench anyway lol

so in laymen terms find what works for you and a stance that feels good and you can still reach depth without pain. Sounds good to me
