You literally want your knees to go way over your toes and sit DEEP slow and controlled (time under tension) to get the biggest stretch possible, that is what causes hypertrophy

I had to make the second adjustment after I stopped playing football. Many of our trainers enforced us to narrow our base. Due to my gait, it’s easier to squat with that second mentioned adjustment. Flexing my feet and ankles outward helped as well once I stopped playing football. I still do to own why they wanted our feet so narrow during squatting. That technique always felt funny for my knees. Doing it this way my knee strength has improved.
