Difference Between Semi-Metallic and Ceramic Brake Pads?

That's quite dangerous advice right there, semi metallic have way better initial stopping bite, means once you press pedal you can feel how pads biting into rotors, ceramic need to warm up few times before having some bite at all, yes it's going to stop you, but it's not gonna be so bity and responsive as semi metallic one .. another thing is combination of pads and rotors, some combos doesn't even want to brake at all, hard on hard materials or soft on soft

The last video I watched said that ceramic sucked for stopping and if you have a truck you want to go with semi-metallic . So which is. You guys need to make your mind up.

Ceramic does not get as hot because it does not dissipate the heat which means your rotors can overheat. Semi metallic acts like a heat sink to keep rotors cooler. This is why race cars don't use ceramic.

I changed to Ceramic and I love it, I see almost no dust, its quiet, and well I guess they do run cooler (its not like I have measured the temps), I drive a small sedan, I think I do feel a slight less stopping power ( the bite on the ceramics isnt as hard) but the difference is maybe 5% less stopping, not a big deal.

Another long term issue, in a vehicle that doesn't get used a lot, ceramic pads will polish the rust into the rotor where semi metallics will grind it off. Yes, way more dust but a much cleaner brake rotor to pad interface.

Nobody talk's how much harder the ceramic pads are on the rotors, I would rather change pads than rotors.

very huge misconception if your sorted about brake dust get ceramic.if you like a strong in tial bite and better stopping power get semi metallic domt let people food you with these ceramic crap pads.listen to what he even said they cause less friction.friction on brakes equals stopping power.

Before I made my comment I went and read through everybody else's thinking this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm not even an expert and I know that semi metallic pads give you a better stopping power especially if you're using it on a heavier vehicle.
