Are Carbon Ceramic Brakes Worth It? #shorts

Your brake pads, like your rotors, aren’t just maintenance items. As with your tires, wheels, intake, and exhaust, you can swap them out for upgraded versions. And when it comes to high-performance cars, carbon-ceramic brakes are a common feature. But are these ceramic brakes a modification worth pursuing?

What’s different about carbon-ceramic brakes?
Although a select few cars retain drum brakes, disc brakes are the prevailing design. And they all work basically the same way: two pads clamp down on a rotor and through friction slow the car down. But where these brakes differ is in their pad material.

They also make your car quicker by having less unsprung weight than steel rotors

Also apparently if there's even the slightest bit of damage on the ceramic disc like a crack or a small chip broken off then the whole disc has to be replaced because if that damaged disc is used, then the heat generating in the crack Will cause to shatter.

Most people at the track will not be using carbon ceramics because they’ll only last one track day. Standard steel rotors will last longer and are cheaper to replace after said track days.

Carbon ceramic don’t actually brake better then steel that’s a misconception what they do improve is fade resistance handling and acceleration putting on carbon ceramic brakes are like putting on forge wheels they help reduce unsprung mass.

The part about having to heat them up for them to work well is a lie. I had CC brakes on my 2016 BMW M3 and they worked just fine right from the first time I applied them on a drive. However, what is actually true is that they build up a water film on the rotors when driven in the rain and you won’t get any bite from your brakes for the first two seconds you’re pressing them.

What about ceramic carbon fiber pads?? On regular old OEM spec rotor?

Yeah, I’ve used carbon ceramic brakes very commonly and even on my normal daily driver cars, and pretty much the same just a little more pricier. It looks nice though though.😂

The rotors sort of last longer. The pads sure as hell don’t. If your driving your scat pack like an animal I’ll see u at 15k miles, or maybe even 30 if your lucky.

I’ve got an Audi B7 RS4 that’s superchargers and running nearly 650PS I also have Audi R8 carbon ceramic brakes front and back and they are very effective

Carbon ceramic rotor and brake pad are cooler and have higher temperature shearing force. Semi-metallic over heated faster than ceramic pads.

Squeeky when cold and barely work while cold. If you drive round in the streets and want to drive around quietly and be able to stop then dont get them.

Ceramic pads are not THAT much more money for every day vehicles. Maybe $10-20 more per pair and they last about 2x so you’ll save on not having to pay labor to install new pads every 30k. Ceramics are good for about 60-80k and they’re more effective.

This video is a lie.

Yeah, unless you plan to slow down from 130+ mph for a sustained amount of time don’t get carbon ceramics. They’re noisy as hell when cold.
