It's not just your pads that stop you- it's your rotors too. Organic pads are softer and wear the rotors less, but they also tend to wear unevenly so you need new rotors sooner. They can overheat and fade under heavy use. Ceramic pads may not have full stopping power until they're hot, and some require compatible rotors- those can eat up a stock rotor quickly- so do your research before using them. Semi-metallics tend to wear well, stop well, and do not excessively wear out rotors. They also resist heat from heavy braking well. Much cheaper than ceramic too, so that's what I use.
