My blades are sharpened twice a week, Tuesday and Friday like clockwork. $28 and 10 mins of my time but I love sharp blades.

The garden machinery shop I used to work at were using a 120g flap disc for sharpening, balancing on a balancer (I just use a nail in the wall) and torquing them back on to 45nm iirc ✌️

The blades on EGO mowers have markings on them showing which side of the blade should be facing, but if you mower blades do not have those markings the sharpie idea is a good one.

I prefer using an impact driver to remove/install the blades, its very fast and easy to do.

An Oregon precision blade balancer helps as well to make sure your blades or properly balanced! Amazon around $10

Easiest if you have a battery mower. You may want to say that or you may have ppl with gas mowers flipping their mowers up like that. Ppl are stupid at times....lol
I may try the flap on a grinder. I usually use a stone on my drill then make sure they are balanced. Thanks for the tip

Hey LCN! What angle would you sharpen a set of Ego blades at? 30deg? My Ego leaves too many StAug blades around after a late day mow. I was thinking it was the angle...

Most homeowner mowers have “one way” blade mounts, but marking is ok. You didn’t balance your blades, that will wreck the bearings over time. Also, go to HarborFreight is need be and get a cheap bench vice. If you’re advocating a power tool - one as dangerous as a grinder - secure the blade on something better than a brick and a bare hand (yeah, about a bare hand near a grinder….). The real quick way? Lock it in a bench Vice and touch up the blade with a file. Then always check balance.

Don't forget to balance your blades after you sharpen them. Unbalanced blades cause vibration

If you have a gas mower, tip it so the spark plug is on top. It keeps the plug dry.
