Do you get pain deep in your glute, and maybe even sciatica down the leg? 👀

This could be stemming from your piriformis muscles (the muscles deep in your glutes.) 🫠

Here’s a simple partner stretch to target the piriformis. 🎯

Step 1: Lay on your back on a table and bring your knee up to 90 degrees and internally rotate the lower leg. 📐

Step 2: Have your partner face you and place your right leg next to your partner’s right hip.

Step 3: From there, have your partner place both hands on your knee and press straight down, thus pressing the femur down. While in this position, have them hold the pressure down, and press your ankle and the knee toward your chest. 🤓

Piriformis muscle strain and pain is no joke. It took me months to stretch and strengthen it only to develop sciatica anyway which left me completely debilitated for months. Finally it’s better but still spasms. Less is more and time is key.

Love you guys! I do this sitting up straight in a char. When you push down the knee I push my bottom back, when you push toward the chest I lean forward. Great for performs or SI pain 🙏

I just tried it out on myself pulling the knee down with one hand and the the ankle head ward with the other hand.
It works very well!

I used to do this when i had a sciatica. I play football or soccer if you're american, and that zone was always sore before i discovered what it was. This stretch always did wonders for me. (It hurts bad in beginning but the stretch that you get is so worth it.)

For me, if the muscle is so tight, and the pain so great, that it causes the patient to "wail", pulling or rather pushing the leg fwd hard seems rather like it would strain the muscle instead of stretch it. I myself have over strained a muscle, by pushing further than is optimal for the muscle, in that state of tightness.

I get that solo. I throw my bent knee up in my kitchen table, pull my pelvis back or basic gently push the butt out, then sink with the standing leg. There is stability benefits with this and likely neurological benefits too. Then to help overall alignment, stand, reach back and grab toes hinging your leg behind you of the same side of the hand grabbing, be sure your leg is aligned with the straight plane of the body facing forward, then raise leg and lean forward, and make that standing leg as straight as possible, and support your balance with the other hand. This would help the alignment of my SI and pubic symphysis joint, of which was causing my piriformis issue anyway. If this is a thing, consider an SI belt for support while the tissues holding the joint in place can relax and repair. I went years and years without this and all the piriformis stretches in the world wasn’t doing a damn thing of fixing it.
