Hallelujah His encounter was a lot like mine. I suffered of suicide thoughts & depression. I would take medication for it. One day after crying out to God for help He came to me that night in a dream. In this nightmare I was fighting spirits. I was praying the only way I knew. I didn’t go to church. I had never read the Bible. I believed in God but I didn’t know Jesus as my Lord nor about Holy Spirit. I didn’t know anything about my identity in Christ as His child. Well when I was drained and done from fighting, his presence came to me on my right side. His peace and love made my head lean into him for rest. He told me in a firm but gentle and caring voice. “You shouldn’t be fighting this alone. Give me your heart and I’ll fight for you. The love of your children is your strength.” I woke up in tears like something inside me had changed. I asked my mom for a Bible and told her God has spoken to me in my nightmare. I opened it and my eyes landed on psalm 17:6-7 “call on you, my God, for you will answer me; turn your ear to me and hear my prayer. Show me the wonders of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes. Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings” I started crying uncontrollably and felt my heart so big and warm full of love. Out my mouth cane out “I have to get Baptist!” My mom couldn’t believe what I was saying lol that night Jesus saved me from myself. I too grew up without a father and experienced sexual abuse and grew up with abandonment issues, anxiety & depression. This month I will be celebrating a year in Christ now. He has been so good and faithful. He lead me to my now pastor and church where I serve in the children’s ministry and in the radio station with the women’s ministry. Jesus is my life now and I only grow more and more in love with Him. I serve him in all I do because I’m thankful. I too cry every time I think of the creator of the world coming down personally to ask me for my heart. Me?! I couldn’t understand why he wanted all of me if I was broken and had done so many awful things in my life. His goodness and mercy and unconditional love just brought to my knees every time. Hearing the song “Reckless Love” always brings me to tears because I feel God truly left the 99 for me. If anyone reading this suffers with depression or anxiety I can promise you that if you give your heart ti Jesus He will fight for you. He is madly in love with you. Please cry out to him with a humble and open heart. He is faithful and will answer you!
