Is religion just another myth, fairytale, or legend?

Is God real? Was Christianity just made up. Or a myth, fairytale or legend invented for control, money, and power? Was the God of Christianity copied from other ancient mythical gods such as Mithras, Horus, and Dionysus? Is there any historical support to this claim? What do the scholars say?

When asked, why do you think Christianity was made up? The most common answer given is: for power, control and money. But this cannot be the answer simply because: It’s impossible. Historically, the church had no control, no power, and certainly no money until, at the very earliest, the mid 5th century. That’s four hundred years (or more) after the death of Christ. That’s like saying that the United States was "made-up" for the purposes of something that will not occur until another two hundred years, or more, from now.

Without a doubt, there were times throughout history where those in the church did abuse her power, (and unfortunately still do) for control and money. And this is gravely wrong. But to say that Christianity itself was invented for this purpose… is not only impossible, but disregards history.

Then how come the apostle writers of the new testament all give different analogy and details of the resurrection? It's there in the Bible. I forgot the chapters but if you read it, you will find out for yourself.

Rebuttal: Modern cults. You have people who worship a cult leader and believe he can do all these things despite everyone else telling them otherwise. Doesn't matter how intelligent a cult member is, or how much evidence there is against the cult leader, anyone can become lost in life. Did Jesus have followers? Yes. Were his miracles real? Who knows. But one being true doesn't mean the other is also true.
