Randy, a video on how a shallow water angler approaches a Blueback Herring spot heavy lake would be great. 👍 Only thing I've learned is that only small spots use wood in the warmer months, post front look at rocky current breaks, and herring don't like dirty water.

I’m in the north east and never fished far enough north that there were no Large Mouth. Around the Great Lakes most of them are in the shallow creeks, marshes and bays. These LM are generally isolated separate populations that live shallow. Before the Goby and Zebra Mussels they are what won tournaments. Know they get zero fishing pressure and a whole lot of fun to catch but 15lbs doesn’t cut it around the Great Lakes

Yep, I never target bass but, after decades of chasing walleyes I can tell you, you are spot on this one. Smallies will often be around the same structure (area) . Can't wait to chase some walleyes at TR next year, Hope I see ya out on the water, love your channel (even though I don't bass fish)(:

I have a theory and I may be wrong but the higher the ratio of spots to largemouth the harder it is to catch a really large largemouth. Now I love spotted bass don't get me wrong but I have found this to be true in my experience.

Good info as usual, now living in the south, Clarks hill lake is basically in my backyard, I've mostly fished lower end of the lake so far. I have caught all 3 species & striper. Question for you, how often does hybrids occur? Cross between either small, large or spots? & If so which cross breeding is most common. I caught a bass my first trip thier few months ago. I honestly wasn't sure what it was? I kinda looked like a small mouth & a spot? Thinking back I'm not sure why I didn't take a pic of it?! Just curious about that. Much Appreciated

So I might be wasting my time looking for spots around laydowns....they always look like good habitat. Have caught some there and even figured out that as a pattern, once. Maybe that should tell me something.
