One trick most anglers don't use and it works exceptionally well is adding a thumb nail weight inside the Fluke itself. This makes the lure fall in several patterns depending on where you insert the thumbnail weight. it also allows you to keep the more natural presentation without a lead head

Thank you very much for the going through the back tip! I knew it would pay off not to litter. Now I'ma go and reuse all the flukes I didn't just leave laying somewhere. You just saved me half the money I spend on em. 👊 😎

Flukes are my go to bait for bass.  I use them a little different than what is shown here.  I rig the same way, but with a 1/0 hook and no weight.  I retrieve them super slow.  let it sink for 10-20 seconds, twitch it a bit then let it sink again.  Works great when the bass aren't being aggressive.  They will suck up the bait and just sit there with it in their mouth.

Good stuff ! Watch this video, then went out this weekend and Killed It ! They were smashing them as quick as I could cast them. Caught 7 nice 1.5 / 2lb's on a watermelon / baby bass Super Fluke. Best day ever ! Thanks and God Bless 😁🙏🏾

THANK GOD I’m not the only guy who fishes these “backwards” like this. Every once in a while I’ll have a moment of doubt...awww, maybe it has better action the other way, maybe its better if the hook is concealed in the bait, etc. It’s really nice to see there are other guys out there rigging them like this.

If you want to catch more than a couple fish per fluke, try Mann's Hardnose and just nose hook it with a finesse hook. It works great in open water, gives a great action because you don't have a hook through half the body and those Mann's baits will last a very long time.

Great video! I’ve never really thought about rigging a fluke with the hook in the belly like that. Going to have to try that. Also the baby bass and white pearl flukes are my go-to flukes.

Typically I’ll go with a 5/0 Owner twistLOCK hook, I get a few more catches per bait using that style. Sometimes I will throw them rigged upside down as he did, the hookups are still very good. I like the bigger hook and have no trouble catching bass even barely twice as long as the bait. Ham Bone and Green Pumpkin Magic are my two go-to colors as of right now. In the past I’ve done well with Baby Bass and Albino.. If you throw it with braid on spinning gear you’ll need a swivel between your leader and mainline, they are a real line twister with that setup.. I’ve not noticed much line twist on casting gear with 15+lb straight fluorocarbon.

I use a 1/8 weight texas style and let it sinkto what ever depth i want at the time and i kill them. Especially overcast days

I usually rig it with a 1/16 weighted twistlock with the hook out of the back and forgo the skin hook and it is still very weedless and hookup ratio is phenomenal. I use it for speckled trout as well and don’t have to set the hook no harder than I twitch the bait.
