I love Kentuckies (Spotted Bass slang from Missouri)!  Thank you for taking the time to make and share this video.

I grew up in the Ozarks, fishing lakes such as Table Rock, Bull Shoals.  Lots of spotted bass.  They seem to suspend more often than either largemouth or smallmouth bass.  Interesting point you make about vertical fishing for suspended bass with  a drop shot.  I used to do the same thing with a tube, especially in standing timber.

Some other consistent spot catchers:
Jerk / rip baits:  Even deep suspended spots will rise up to eat a suspending jerkbait when they refuse a top water.  I have caught and witnessed others catch spots suspended 28 feet down, over a river channel that was 140+ feet deep with this technique.  Sometimes they want chrome or ghost minnow, sometimes they want bright finishes like clown and Table Rock Shad.  Spoonbill Rebel, modified to suspend, was especially good in January and February.

Grubs:  A 4 inch grub was the standard bait for these fish.  Drag it on the bottom or swim it.  Catches quantity and quality.  Smoke, watermelon, motor oil, or firecracker were the best.

Underspin:  Swarming Hornet or Roadrunner in 1/4 or 3/8 oz with a fluke or swimbait on it.  At it most effective for suspended or schooling fish.

Love the Yamamoto Hula Grub.  Texas rig it to pitch when the bass are tight to wood.  Drag or swim it on a football head jig when they are keying on gravel points or bluffs.  Effective all through the year.  Best colors were 176, 208, 131, & 135.

Double willow spinnerbait:  Burn it like you are smallmouth fishing in Canada or New England.  Especially good along bluffs or other vertical structure.  Does not have to have the chartreuse blade like brown bass love so much.  It can, but I have done very well on white blades or silver and gold in tandem.
