Carbide is incredibly hard. Besides easily ripping through plywood, circular and table saws blades can cut through nails without flinching. While carbide isn’t immortal and does eventually become dull in time, if you’re experiencing dull or burning passes, it doesn’t necessarily mean that your blades are ready for the trash. Remove your blade from your saw and look at the teeth. Resin and pitch are like plaque on human teeth and can build up on your blade, creating a barrier between the wood you’re cutting and the blade.

While you could waste your money on commercial liquids that remove the pitch, fill a pan full of warm water and a few tablespoons of laundry soap. Let the blade sit in the pan for a while and watch as it easily comes off with a brush. Trust me, these blades will last you a very long time, even before it’s time to get them sharpened.

Thank you to my patrons!

Simple Green BBQ Cleaner also works. Spread newspaper and spray one side with the cleaner. Wait 5 minutes, wipe, slip and repeat.

Oh shit this will work wonders for cleaning tools, in my spare time I clean and sharpen tools for family, usually half the battle is cleaning off all the gunk from plants and wood.

Any tips on reducing buildup in carbide burrs? Specifically for titanium and hardened steel?

I hate those marples blades for only one reason and that is the coating on them are too damn thick.
